Szekszárd’s Babits Mihály Cultural Center, the city’s biggest cultural hub at 7100 Szekszárd, Szent István Square 10, packs 2026 with exhibitions, an open university, concerts, family programs, and a bustling playhouse. Dozens of clubs and art groups call it home, fueling a lively community scene. The complex also includes the crowd-pleasing Agora Cinema (Agóra Mozi) and the House of Arts (Művészetek Háza).
Spring Highlights
May 5 features the musical Endre Fejes – Gábor Presser: Jó estét nyár, jó estét szerelem – Musical egy huligánról (Good Evening, Summer, Good Evening, Love – A Musical About a Hooligan), part of the Muse season pass. On May 8, get an Egyéni grafológiai rövidelemzés (individual graphology mini-analysis). May 9 brings Táncgála – Origo Dance Studio. The Kultúrkortyok Szabadegyetem serves up a travel deep-dive on May 12: Taskenttől az Aral-tóig – Üzbegisztán (From Tashkent to the Aral Sea – Uzbekistan).
Comedy, Song, Youth, Memories
László Lakatos’s solo night Megjöttem, with opener Oliver Wolf, hits May 14, tickets $7,190 to $7,190. May 15 doubles up: Gergő Kovács’s dalest (song evening) and the Szekszárd Youth Wind Orchestra rating concert. On May 21, Zene nélkül mit érek én… – Cserháti Zsuzsa és Máté Péter emlékkoncert (memorial concert) salutes two icons.
Summer to Winter
June 9 stages James Fritz – 4:12. June 10–11 roll out three performances of Topolcsányi Laura – Maráth Viktor: Pocahontas for primary, plus, and kindergarten passes. Apostol concert plays June 13. June 23 brings Férjek a slamasztikában (Husbands in a Jam), a French two-act comedy. Piano duo Endre Hegedűs and Katalin Hegedűs perform Sept 7. Gergely Rákász – Mozart arrives Nov 6; Film Music Concert follows Nov 24. On Jan 23, 2027, László Dés – Péter Geszti – Krisztián Grecsó: A Pál utcai fiúk (The Paul Street Boys), from Ferenc Molnár’s novel, closes the run.
