Flavors, history, and a step back in time
May 9 brings one of the city’s most beloved foodie gatherings to the Palotaváros lakes: the 11th Fehérvár Fish Festival. Expect a lively cooking competition, stage shows, and kid-friendly activities, all built around the freshest fish and classic Hungarian flavors.
That same Saturday, Memory Sites Day opens the doors of the Medieval Ruin Garden – National Memorial and the Coronation Basilica National Memorial Visitor Center. Reenactors, playful learning sessions, and craft workshops keep families busy, while specialist talks dive deeper into the city’s storied past.
Also on May 9, join the Walk in the Belle Époque in Zichy Grove and revisit the park’s golden age. The tour revives the buzz of high society around the grove, reveals the tales behind ornate palaces, and conjures up the elegant, bustling afternoons of yesteryear.
Major exhibition: Saint John Paul II – TOTUS TUUS
A standout all summer: the TOTUS TUUS exhibition on the life of Saint John Paul II, his personal relics, and Marian devotion. Spanning 18 rooms and created through the cooperation of four major European museums, it also explores the Pope’s impact on history. The show debuts in Hungary and runs in week-long blocks across Székesfehérvár from May through mid-September, including May 5–10, 12–17, 19–24, 26–31; June 2–7, 9–14, 16–21, 23–28, 30–July 5; July 7–12, 14–19, 21–26, 28–Aug 2; Aug 4–9, 11–16, 18–23, 25–30; Sept 1–6, 8–13, 15–20, and 22–27.
Theater, comedy, and live shows
Vörösmarty Theatre keeps the stage lights bright with performance series May 2–10, May 11–16, May 19–23, and May 26–June 1, with tickets ranging roughly from USD 4.70 to USD 54 (HUF 1,750–19,990).

June 19–21, FEZEN Festival electrifies Székesfehérvár with its trademark rock, metal, and pop energy. On June 20, sparks literally fly at the 22nd Fire and Iron Festival as bladesmiths, dagger-makers, blacksmiths, and armorers from every corner of the country bring the Rác Street skanzen to life. Among houses preserved in their original condition, masters stoke the coals, hammer steel, and revive ancient Hungarian crafts for a day of ringing anvils and glowing forges.

June 19 marks a Professional Metals Day for those curious about the latest in metalworking and industry trends. When September rolls in, the Fehérvár Lecsó-Cooking Fiesta pours fire under hundreds of kettles as families, friends, and workplace teams from all over Hungary gather to chop peppers, stir pots, and swap stories while the city fills with the aroma of paprika and simmering lecsó.
