Gödöllő’s Royal Palace throws open its doors for full-scale time travel this summer. On June 6–7, 2026, Coronation Weekend returns with living history, costumed characters, music, dance, immersive tours, and playful learning that draw visitors straight into the second half of the 19th century, when Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) and her court made the palace their beloved royal retreat. Families, history buffs, and culture seekers get a two-day feast of sights, sounds, and hands-on fun across the grand halls and gardens of the Grassalkovich Palace, 2100 Gödöllő.

Step Into the Royal Era

The elegant setting of the Gödöllő Royal Palace becomes the stage for courtly rituals, promenades, parades, and performances that revive the atmosphere of the Austro-Hungarian heyday. Expect historically styled programs, spectacular demonstrations, and companion events designed to turn memory into experience. The weekend pays tribute to a defining chapter: in 1867, the Grassalkovich Palace was presented to Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph as a coronation gift, transforming the building’s destiny. Each year, the palace honors this moment with a reimagined coronation ceremony and a rich slate of family activities.
