Written during lockdown, it pokes at two big questions: Can art make us better? Can perfection steer sinners straight? The plot: a gangster family, a slick fence, and a stolen Raphael that all of Europe is chasing. Soon the painting hangs on the mob boss’s wall — and the fallout begins. Who changes when they become the owner of one of the world’s most beautiful creations?
Allen’s signature blend of sharp human insight and humor parades the pettiness and greatness of people in full. This production is an international first: a world premiere for Hungarian audiences. He has mentored on multiple talent shows and judged A Dal, Hungary’s Eurovision selection, in 2017. His 2017 album Caramel 7 went double platinum, and in 2018 he received the inaugural Péter Máté Award (Máté Péter-díj) for outstanding work in pop music. As a songwriter and lyricist, he’s notched striking results, including penning the winner and the fourth-place track in the 2019 edition of A Dal. Expect a stripped-back, intimate set that puts the spotlight on voice, craft, and connection.
