Balatonfüred rolls into summer 2026 with a packed calendar: festivals, concerts, comedy, theater, sailing, family days, wine, jazz, and craft shows spread across promenades, galleries, hotels, parks, and boats. Many events sell tickets online, and plenty are free. Here’s what’s coming up across multiple venues in the 8230 Balatonfüred area, week by week and beyond, with highlights you should not miss.
This Week: May 18–24
Start with a lakeside rhythm and some big laughs. On May 21, comedian Tibor Bödőcs brings two solo shows to the Balatonfüred Congress Center at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
On May 22 at 5:00 p.m., Esterházy Palace opens the exhibition Long-Ago Arts: Porcelain Dolls, with a ribbon-cutting by Katalin Tarnai from the Arács Salon Cultural Association and vocals by singer Rita Rábaközi. Tied to Mother’s Day and Children’s Day, the show traces 200 years of porcelain doll-making alongside contemporary works. It runs daily 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. through June 14 with paid entry. Later that evening at 8:00 p.m., Holdeső take the stage on the Tagore Promenade, launching the 24th Balaton Fish and Wine Festival (Balatoni Hal- és Borünnep), which runs May 22–25 with quality music, dance, and spectacles.
May 23 packs the waterfront: children’s theater Maszk Puppet and Youth Theatre (10:30–11:30 a.m.) with a tale of King Matthias and his clever jester; Mesevarázs Jurta, a full day of musical storytelling (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.); Zalai Dance Ensemble (5:00 p.m.); Tárkány Művek Folk Ensemble (6:30 p.m.), led by cimbalom player-songwriter Bálint Tárkány-Kovács and featuring singers Bori Fekete and Júlia Viszkeleti, guitarist Zsolt Rónai, plus Márton Fekete and Péter Molnár on viola and double bass, with lyrics evoking Endre Ady, Attila József, Mihály Babits, and János Pilinszky; András Kállay-Saunders and band at 8:00 p.m. The Night of the Organs lights up the Aranyhíd at 8:30 p.m.
Over at the Vaszary Gallery on May 23–24 (10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.), the József Egry workshop invites you to design wine labels—free to join; a separate ticket is needed to view the exhibition. The Fanyűvő playhouse spreads hands-on fun on May 23–24 (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.) and May 25 (10:00 a.m.–noon).
May 24 brings a children’s fishing competition on the Tagore Promenade at 9:00 a.m. for anyone under 14 this year. Sign up on-site or by email; no fee, but a valid Balaton fishing permit is required. The rain date is Monday, May 25, 9:00–11:00 a.m. The promenade hosts the Veszprém-Bakony Dance Ensemble at 5:30 p.m., Regatta Rhythm and Folk at 6:30 p.m., and Swing-Swing at 8:00 p.m. Also running all week: Balatonfüred boat trips and the local cinema program (May 18–24).
After the Fish and Wine Festival
On Monday, May 25, Róbert Dervalics plays the Tagore Promenade (5:00–6:00 p.m.). The cinema and boat schedules extend through May 31. On May 30 at 6:00 p.m., the Jewish Quarter’s House of Jewish Achievements hosts Írd újra, Shakespeare! (Rewrite It, Shakespeare!), a Spinoza Theatre production directed by András Surányi, written by Gábor Lackó, with dramaturgy by Lili Fabacsovics and featuring actor Antal Cserna. The same weekend (May 30–31), Sportolj Füred brings a free, two-venue sports festival—Forrás Sports Park and the Balatonfüred Yacht Club—covering more than 20 sports on water and land, with family challenges and shared activities. Children’s Day fills the weekend citywide, including a special Children’s Day cruise on May 31.
June: Books, Jazz, Film, Pilates, Family Days
Early June continues with regular scenic boat rides and movie listings (June 1–7). On June 4 at 5:00 p.m., the Chief Architect’s Office presents the book launch of Füred’s Architectural Typography, part of its Partmentén series. June 6 marks Family Day in the Koloska Valley, plus Pilates Fest Balatonfüred spans June 6–7, alongside more cruising.
Szegény gazdagok (The Poor Rich) lands at the Congress Center on June 7. Boat and movie schedules roll through mid-June. The Könyv-Bor-Jazz Festival blends books, wine, and jazz June 11–14. A free, registration-only family picnic—From Alpha to Omega VI (Alfáktól Omegáig VI)—pops up June 13 at Gapa Terrace and the Park Forest (Száka Dűlő).
June 18–20 turns Balatonfüred into a cinema hub for the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival (Magyar Mozgókép Fesztivál). Expect more boat trips June 19–21. July: Dumafüred, Classics, Sport, Klezmer, and Anna Ball
July piles on the choices: organist Gergely Rákász plays MOZART in the Evangelical Church on July 1 ($16.6). Túrajó guided walks and bike adventures on July 4 cost $10.8 each. The first Hungarian International Klezmer Festival runs July 10–12. The Allianz Bay Crossing and SUP Challenge returns July 11.
Open-air theater brings Hyppolit, the Butler (Hyppolit, a lakáj) to the Balatonfüred stage on July 14 ($16.4). Dumafüred 2026 dominates July 17–26 with a cavalcade of comedy stars: Duma Jam nights (Hadházi, Kovács, Litkai, $29.9); All Stars lineups mixing Péter Felméri, András Péter Kovács, Zoltán Kőhalmi, Eszter Ráskó; solo shows Sátántanga by Eszter Ráskó ($26.3), The Brains of the World (A VILÁG ESZE) by László Hadházi ($23.8), In Time (Idővel) by András Péter Kovács ($23.9), and more, at the Leisure and Conference Center. Art lovers can browse Füred Art Week, an open-air art market July 24–26. Sailors line up for the White Ribbon – Szabolcs Izsák Memorial Race (Fehér Szalag – Szabolcs Izsák Emlékverseny) on July 25, the same night as the storied 201st Anna Ball (Anna-bál), Balatonfüred’s legendary ball. More theater arrives July 28 with Be Good Till Death (Légy jó mindhalálig) from Pannon Castle Theatre ($23.6).
August: Blue Ribbon, Big Boats, and Wine Weeks
Sailing peaks July 30–August 1 with the 58th Raiffeisen Blue Ribbon Grand Prix (Raiffeisen Kékszalag). From August 6–9, the Hungarian Sailing Federation’s Big Boat Championship takes the lake. Recurrent synagogue tours continue on August 7. Then the long-running Balatonfüred Wine Weeks (Balatonfüredi Borhetek) uncork from August 7–30, pouring local character across the promenade’s stalls, concerts, and culinary pairings.
Recurring Cruises, Cinema, and Active Days
Throughout May–August, look for steady schedules of Balatonfüred boat excursions and the weekly cinema program. The city also cycles through seasonal Sailing Tours (Vitorlástúra), Kayak Experience Tours (Kajak élménytúra), and SUP Yoga sessions on select dates. Nearby, Kőröshegy hosts a Wine and Gastro Picnic on June 20. A county-wide events guide runs all year.
