Budapest’s Óbuda Synagogue is turning Wednesday afternoons into a family ritual with KiddieTime, a lively weekly program that blends music, learning, drama, and movement for kids ages 3–10 and their parents. Running from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at 1036 Budapest, Lajos Street (Lajos utca) 163, the series opens the door to Jewish traditions through hands-on experiences and shared fun.

Sing, Learn, Act

Each session starts with a parent-and-child music block: Hebrew songs, prayers, and holiday tunes fill the halls, creating a warm space to absorb language, rhythm, and ritual together. Then comes the weekly parashah, explored through drama pedagogy—games, role-play, and creative making—guided by a drama educator who helps the stories land with feeling and context.

Move, Grow, Connect

To close, kids gear up for a movement segment: a Krav Maga class led by a coach with experience in Israel. Beyond exercise, the aim is to build confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of community.

Who’s Behind It—and When

KiddieTime is led by Zsuzsa Szilánk, EMIH’s head of education; programs are coordinated by Miri Radó, with Jewish content curated by Petra Nagy. Participation is free but requires registration. Upcoming dates in Budapest: 2026.05.27., 2026.06.03., 2026.06.10., 2026.06.17., 2026.06.24., with more sessions to come.
