May: Big Wine Weekend, True Crime, ABBA flashback
May 22 lights up with Szerelmes gyilkosok – a Live True Crime Talk Show with Dr. Tímea Rátkai, plus Sopron örök!, an archaeological discovery game in the Museum Quarter. Nostalgia lands with the ABBA & BONEY M. Concert Show. The Sopron Wine Festival (Soproni Borünnep) 2026 (May 22–24) anchors the weekend, pouring regional flavors in the city center and vineyards, with a Wine Festival Afterparty at Museum Café (May 22–23).
May 23 stacks options: the 16th Sop-Rock Talent Search Festival; Without Borders (Határok Nélkül), where adventurer Gábor Rakonczay shares stories from extreme challenges; On the Shoulders of Giants (Óriások vállán) – a free city tour tracing famous Sopron families; a maypole farewell dance and family day in Bánfalva; and a heritage stroll, Memories of the Centuries in the Vienna Suburb (Évszázadok emlékei a Bécsi külvárosban). On May 24, an “Embracing the Square” inner-city walk wraps with a wine tasting, and kids make seashell wind chimes to welcome summer.
