From candlelit symphony tributes and blockbuster summer festivals to vintage fairs and kids’ extravaganzas, the city keeps the buzz going year-round. May 2026: Candlelight, Crime, and Culture

May 22 brings Harry Potter music by candlelight to the Kölcsey Center Grand Hall. Tickets run about $38–$41. The next day, Mulat a Torony! lights up the Nagyerdei Water Tower for around $14. May 24’s Debrecen Antique Fair delivers a true market vibe with only antiques, retro items, artworks, tools, and quirky gifts on offer.
From May 26–31, the Jewish Cultural Days and Street Festival spreads across the city, followed on May 27 by Veres 1 Színház staging Agatha Christie: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd at VOKE Egyetértés Cultural Center ($22–$25). On May 29, Kodály Philharmonic Debrecen performs the Emperor Quartet and the Great Symphony at the University Church (approx. $7.50). July 2026: Street Music and Campus Fever

Debrecen Wine & Jazz Days runs Aug 6–8, with a Zoo evening walk on Aug 7. The Ruyter Street farmers’ market returns Aug 8, and the Antique Fair on Aug 9. Aug 11 features László Dés – Mi vagyunk a grund! at the open-air stage ($41–$50).
The city blossoms Aug 18–23 with the Debrecen Flower Carnival, the Galiba Children’s Festival, Botanica Expo, and Beer by the Lake – Nagyerdő Beer Garden.
