2026.05.27. (Wednesday) — Multiple towns and venues across Hungary are gearing up for Challenge Day 2026, the country’s biggest non–sport-specific recreational sports series coordinated by MASPORT. Returning on May 27, it’s set to get the nation moving again, delivering memorable experiences, growing year by year, and inspiring every generation and social group to join in.
Fill the country with movement
Running in Hungary since 1991, Challenge Day brings a burst of energy to the last Wednesday of May. The idea is simple: spark enthusiasm for exercise and healthy living through a flood of local events offering every kind of sport and movement you can imagine. Hundreds of programs will take place nationwide, and you can join in through local organizers. Check the website—there’s likely something near you that promises an exciting, active day out.
Pass the joy on
Let’s write the next chapter of Challenge Day’s story in Hungary by getting more TOWNS, SCHOOLS, WORKPLACES, RETIREE ORGANIZATIONS, COMMUNITIES, AND LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES on board to host upbeat, activity-packed programs. Show each other the power of moving together—and let’s fill the country with motion from morning till night.
Together, we move
The roots go back to Canada in 1982, when leaders of two neighboring cities held a daylong contest to see which was sportier. From midnight to 9 p.m., they counted everyone who did at least 15 minutes of active exercise. The playful rivalry spread across Europe and the world as Challenge Day, arriving in Hungary in 1991. The mission remains: make the last Wednesday in May the spark for movement and healthier habits. With hundreds of programs running nationwide, Challenge Day might just be the most active day of the year.
