2026.06.25 (Thursday) – 2026.06.28 (Sunday)
3300, Archbishop’s Garden (Érsekkert), Eger
Four summer days in Eger, where music, literature, and community meet in a lush park and a storied castle. The Kaláka Festival returns June 25–28 with a rich program shaped by Hungarian heritage: folk and world music, poetry, children’s theater, dance houses, exhibitions, and sacred concerts. Families, first‑timers, and die‑hard fans settle into Eger’s magical atmosphere to listen, learn, and sing along.
Four Days, Many Stages
Events unfold across the city, with the big evening concerts set against the dramatic backdrop of Eger Castle. The festival keeps its long-standing June slot: every year on the fourth weekend of the month. Expect the same beloved cultural palette—concerts, táncház (dance houses), exhibitions, children’s shows, church performances, and the signature “verse concert” blending poetry and music.
Opening Verse Concert
The curtain rises on June 25 at the Géza Gárdonyi Theater (Gárdonyi Géza Színház) with the verse concert titled “Love Fiercely” (“SZERESSETEK SZILAJON”). The night welcomes Tamás Jordán, the Sebő Ensemble (Sebő-együttes), and Kaláka for an Attila József evening—an intimate, spirited dialogue between classic poetry and contemporary performance.
Lineup Highlights
On stage across four days: Sebő Ensemble (Sebő-együttes), Tamás Jordán, Bea Palya, Söndörgő, György Ferenczi and the 1st Pest Rackák (Ferenczi György és az 1-ső Pesti Rackák), István Pál “Szalonna” and his band (Pál István Szalonna és bandája), H. Miklós Vecsei, Balázs Szabó, Huba Ratkóczki, János Csík and MEZZO (Csík János és a MEZZO), Soma Nóvé and Sándor Csoóri Jr. (Ifj. Csoóri Sándor), Amor fati, Fokos, Saint Ephrem (Szent Efrém), the Szászcsávás Band (Szászcsávási Banda), Vilmos Gryllus, Péter Huzella, Edina “Mókus” Szirtes, Mancsi Fabók, Ziránó Theater (Ziránó Színház)—and, as always, hosts Kaláka.
For Kids, Too
Saturday and Sunday mornings turn into a dedicated Children’s Festival (Gyerekfesztivál): concerts, puppet theater, and play programs running all morning for children and their parents. It’s hands-on, low-pressure, and crafted to draw kids into songs, rhythms, and stories that travel through time.
Eger, June 25–28, 2026—bring curiosity, leave with a chorus.
