June 16 brings EKKE Cinemaâs Breakfast on the Hill, a 95âminute French comedy (2023) in the original language with subtitles. That same day, actor PĂĄl MĂĄcsai opens his workshop to the audience, performing poetry by Arany, PetĆfi, Ady, Babits, KosztolĂĄnyi, Karinthy, Dsida, Attila JĂłzsef, RadnĂłti, VillonâFaludy, Nemes Nagy, Pilinszky, OttĂł OrbĂĄn, Petri, Parti Nagy, and IstvĂĄn KemĂ©nyâan evening of process, voice, and intent. The event Studio Visit â An Evening with PĂĄl MĂĄcsai (MưHELYLĂTOGATĂS â MĂCSAI PĂL ESTJE) takes place at the Bartakovics BĂ©la Community House in Eger; tickets are USD 13.40.
On June 23, EKKE screens Heavenly Chaos, a 91âminute French comedy (2025). June 24 previews Supergirl at Agria Cinema. On June 17, Walking Song (SĂ©tĂĄlĂł ĂnekszĂł) floods the historic center with choral harmonies from the Agria Mixed Choir. June 19 piles on: an acoustic twist on favorites at Börleszk Acoustic Night; a Tercina concert titled Song of Songs with actor Anna Györgyi, free entry; a brassy Balcony Music set from the Academy of Musicâs trombone quartet on City Hallâs balcony; MISSH ignites the Broadway Monkey to kick off school break; and the rock band KĂĄrpĂĄtia headlines the outdoor stage. June 19 spotlights White Wines of Egerâfive pours led by a sommelier, with savory pastries and cheese; in good weather, it moves to the sun deck with beanbags. June 20 is pure St. Johnâs Night (Szent IvĂĄnâĂ©j): multiple magical picnics under the Poplar at SĂkhegy, fire dancers from the LobbanĂĄspont troupe, and a sixâwine tasting guided by Katalin TĂłth featuring premieresâEgri Csillag 2025 and Superior 2024, Rhine Riesling Superior 2024, Kadarka Siller 2025, Kadarka 2024, and VĂĄrvĂ©dĆ Egri BikavĂ©r Grand Superior 2022 from the SĂkâhegy slopeâplus food by FĂĄzis Koszt & KĂĄvĂ©. On June 20, Hungaryâs 25th Night of Museums takes over Eger. The Basilica hosts programs and a major exhibit, including a centenary tribute to painter ErnĆ Nagy (born in FelnĂ©met). The Ziffer SĂĄndor Gallery and the DobĂł IstvĂĄn Castle Museum coâpresent Dawned Reality, an ErnĆ Nagy memorial show. The Archbishopâs Palace Visitor Center throws open its halls; the Chief Archdiocesan Library, the PĂĄl Tittel Library, the GĂ©za GĂĄrdonyi Memorial House (Stories Locked in Flavors, a culinaryâliterary journey), and the Valide Sultan Hamam bath ruins add special programs. The Castle layers tours, openings, and family activities. The Observatory and Science Experience Center go late. June 21 greets sunrise on DobĂł Square with Sun Salutations for the International Day of Yoga, open to all levels. The same day, an Antique Market turns the old town into an openâair treasure hunt. Also on June 20, the Beehive Stones Performance Hike (KaptĂĄrkövek) sends trekkers into the BĂŒkkalja volcanic landscape on 9.3â, 18.6â, and 31.1âmile routes, with views, beehive stones, and brushes with the wine region. A classical concert titled I Sing Thy Holy Name Without Ceasing presents Benedetto Marcelloâs Psalms of David on June 21.

From June 15â19 and June 22â26, the art show Individual Identity in a Global World gathers works from painting to mixed media on selfhood and positioning. The EKKE Faculty of Arts showcases DIPLOMA â26 design theses and defenses June 15â19 and 22â23. SĂĄndor KĂ©riâs Triple Numbers photo show runs June 15â20 at Bartakovics House; Survivors honors women who overcame cervical cancer, also through June 20. SELF (SZELF) by Kata VĂĄlĂłcziâMajor exhibits free at Agria Park June 7â25 and again June 22â25; Disciples (TanĂtvĂĄnyok) by the A&B Multilingual Arts Workshop appears June 13â25 on the first floor near Hervis. The touring show Life Is Sacred presents Saint Gianna Beretta Molla at the Basilica from June 15â21 and June 22â28. Dawned Reality (DerengĆ valĂłsĂĄg), the ErnĆ Nagy memorial, continues June 23â28 at the Castle Museum and Ziffer Gallery. Multiplex movie programs run June 15â21 and June 22â28 at Agria Park.
Late June: Archery and KalĂĄka
June 25â28, the HDHâIAA Historical Archery European Championship lands in Eger Castle, with individual and national team contests plus guided tours on the fortressâs military past; a parallel international archery competition shares the arena. The 46th KalĂĄka Festival returns as a fullâspectrum arts feast with theater, verse theater, childrenâs shows, visual arts, and a folk craft fair. June 26 stacks a perfect bill: Bea Palya in her signature intimateâyetâelemental style; PĂĄl IstvĂĄn Szalonna and His Band playing and teaching steps; JĂĄnos CsĂk and Mezzo blending folk with jazz and pop; Amor fati, Fatima Szalayâs worldâfolk project; and a Musical City Walk led by Botond RĂĄzsi. Alumni gather June 26 for the EszterhĂĄzy Wine Club, with winemaker DĂĄniel KorĂłzs presenting his bottles.
