The 20th Alsószeli Jurtanapok returns June 26–28, 2026, now the biggest heritage festival in Upper Hungary. Set in an old riverbed shaped into a living steppe village of yurts, tents, and striking installations, it blends folk tradition, music, debate, and family fun in Alsószeli (Dolné Saliby). Friday: Opening drums and night fires
Things kick off Friday at 13:30 with Piripotty, a children’s concert by Éva Korpás and her band. At 15:00 the Children’s Courtyard opens with a playful storming of the straw castle, followed at 15:30 by Gyöngyi Écsi’s Angel Lambs. The official opening starts at 17:30 with the tribal flag-raising, led by Mayor Lajos Kovács and patrons Erzsébet Francisti, László Francisti, and József Berényi. Local ensembles take the stage at 17:45: the Varsás Folk Dance Group and Folk Song Circle of Alsószeli, Bendő Band, Alsószeli Zither Players, Dióhéj Zither Band, and the Zomba Tradition Keepers. At 19:30, the great yurt hosts Tünde Puskás’s talk Don’t Be Afraid! Children, identities, and homes in the context of migration, while Pántlika fires up a folk pub set at KD Privát Club. RitMusa plays at 20:45, then fire-jumping with Máté Domján and Bendő at 22:00, before Mortifer closes at 23:30.
Saturday: Parades, knights, and a star headliner
Saturday starts at 09:30 with Ringató led by Erika Rehák. Scouts from the 72nd St. Lawrence Troop run a seven-challenge kids’ contest at 11:00. Gather at 12:00, parade at 12:30 from the Flat to the Millennium Monument. Langaléta Garabonciások perform at 13:00 at the fairground and again at 14:00 on stilts at the Flat. At 15:00, a knightly tournament salutes the 907 Battle of Pressburg and the 1849 Battle of Pered, with Vermes Tribe, Pusztai Róka Nomád, Tolnai-Turán, and Memento Mori. Kaptza plays at 16:30; 17:45 brings kids’ yoga with Csilla Seres and a public forum in the great yurt on A New Situation in National Policy with Beáta Kiss, László Gubík, and Balázs Kovács, moderated by Szilárd Somogyi. Keleti Szél concert at 19:00; an evening lecture at 20:15; parallel folk pub and dance house with Sajó Banda at KD Privát Club at 20:15. The closing words and flag-lowering are at 22:00 with patron József Berényi and chief organizer László Francisti—then the big one: Csík Band (Csík Zenekar) with guest Gábor Presser at 22:00. Night revelry with DJ Peter runs from midnight to 05:00.
Sunday: Stillness and symphony
Sunday offers an ecumenical service at 10:00, then at 15:00 the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra performs in the local Lutheran church.
Always-on: music, healing, crafts, tastes
Sajó Banda brings music and dance across venues. Exhibitions include a small-animal show by the Upper Sellye branch of the Slovak Small Animal Breeders Association. The Healing Yurt hosts: Barbara Kurinec (massage); Sándor Kocsis (shamanic bone-setting); Béla Kulina (bone-setting, reiki); Katalin Zilizi (massage); Péter Antalics (bone-setting, massage). The Wine Courtyard pours Kolónia 52 (St. George Hill), Péter Nagyváradi (Balatonfüred, Csopak), Molnár Winery (Nádszeg/Neded), Promitor Vinorum (Galanta/Galánta), Helen Winery (Negyed/Neded), DarázsVin (Pered/Tešedíkovo), plus Cheesio artisanal cheeses, and a coffee and tea house by Jurta Kávézó (Alsószeli/Dolné Saliby).
Kids, archers, hearty bites
The Children’s Courtyard packs folk games, Paprika Jancsi’s slingshot range, a Ringató yurt, crafts, a straw castle, an endless painting canvas, games, and contests. Stroll Crafts Street, try archery, and refuel at Betyár Tanya, Hörpintő, Serelde, and Kemence. Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs.
