Somogyvámos turns into a slice of India for three summer days as Krishna Valley hosts the 31st Krishna Valley Farewell from Friday to Sunday, July 17–19, 2026. One of Hungary’s biggest spiritual and eco-experience festivals brings sacred rituals, music-and-dance nights, themed tours, and vegetarian gastronomy to the shady groves, gardens, and lakes of this renowned eco-village just half an hour from Lake Balaton. Families, seekers, foodies, and the simply curious are all invited to slow down and recharge amid tranquil greenery.
Inside Europe’s best-known eco-village
Visitors can step into daily life at Krishna Valley, exploring its organic farm, gardens, herbarium, and Cow Protection Center on guided walks. Expect ox-cart rides, a mini railway, folk play structures, crafting workshops, archery for kids, henna, and sari try-ons. The Mandir (temple) opens for guided visits every 20–30 minutes between 10:00 and 18:00 throughout the weekend.
From hemp stalk to dress
Syama Handmade’s new hemp-processing workshop welcomes guests all day. Follow the whole sustainable chain in real time: homegrown hemp becomes fiber, then yarn, then fabric, and finally finished garments. Natural dyeing and decorative techniques are demonstrated on-site.
Stages, rituals, and star turns
Live programs run non-stop with performances by flutist Szabolcs Kövi, the Braja Renu bhajan ensemble, the Gauravani Dance Group, and students from the Krishna Valley school. A standout: the traditional Indian–Vedic wedding at noon on Saturday and Sunday, complete with a fire ceremony, mantras, garlands, and narration so you won’t miss a symbol or vow. It’s not a reenactment—an actual couple marries here before hundreds of witnesses for blessings and good fortune.
Holi: the color blast
Kick off the weekend at Friday’s Holi—Festival of Colors—at 16:00. Dance and laugh through a cloud of bright powder, share joy and blessings, and leave gloriously unrecognizable. Originally a spring welcome celebration, Holi’s cheerful abandon has spread across America and Europe, too. In Krishna Valley’s picture-perfect landscape, it’s pure color therapy.
Meditation, meetings, and Kirtan nights
At the SpiritUp Terrace, guided meditation and relaxation sessions help you unplug, while evenings flow into KirtanFest led by Bhaktipada Goswami. Afternoon meet-and-greets with Vallabhi run Friday 17:00–18:00, Saturday 16:00–17:00, and Sunday 16:00–17:00. Vallabhi also leads a daily 12:30 guided meditation using original sections of the Sri Isopanishad—more than downtime, it’s a doorway to calm and clarity.
Food: three Govinda spots, endless flavor
This year the familiar big tent makes way for three distinct venues. Govinda Restaurant serves an authentic Indian menu, Govinda Falatozó (Govinda Snack Bar) dishes out Indian street food, and Govinda Buffet mixes Indian and Hungarian vegetarian plates alongside fresh bakery items and cooling drinks. Expect live-fire show cooking at the Cowherds’ Kitchen, and don’t skip the famed Krishna Valley sweets. The detailed menus go public before the event.
Programs by day: Friday highlights
The main stage opens at 11:00, with traditional bhajans, storytelling from the Panchatantra (Pancsa-tantra), dance sets by Gauravani, talks with Lila Suka Dasa, “Secrets of the Vedas,” and more. All-day hands-on demos cover macramé, crochet, weaving, pottery pit firing, wool carding and spinning, stove building, and metalwork—blades from steel, jewelry from copper. School tours and a Vedic board game (Chaturaji, Caturaji) run 10:00–16:00. Timed tours include the Isodyana Botanical Garden, edible wild plant walks, herb tours, the Cow Protection Center (at 12:00, 14:00, 16:00), “Karma-cleansing and luck-bringing” walks, and “Life in Krishna Valley” neighborhood tours. UV body paint preps you for KirtanFest 17:00–21:00.
Saturday: wedding, flute, and flow
Saturday’s stage begins at 10:30 with Braja Renu, school performances, and welcome speeches, then the Vedic wedding at 12:00. After, Gauravani dances, Szabolcs Kövi’s flute concert at 14:00, a conversation-and-song with Vallabhi, Kathak dance, a Sirayan Vajramutthi martial arts demo, and a yoga presentation from Bhaktivedanta College. Around the grounds: the same rich roster of craft demos, garden and school tours, plus the “Pilgrimage Walk for Peace,” “What Wise Nature Teaches” walks with Kundavali, and SpiritUp talks like “Escape the Matrix by Hearing.” KirtanFest returns 17:00–21:00.
Sunday: one more sacred yes
Sunday mirrors Saturday’s energy: bhajans, Gauravani’s traditional dances, welcome talks, the noon Vedic wedding, tales from the Panchatantra, school music, Gauravani’s modern Indian dances, and wrap at 16:50. Timed sessions again feature mantras, botanical and herb walks, edible wild plant rounds, Cow Protection Center tours, subconscious mind and mantra talks, Kundavali’s “Wise Nature” tour, and a final KirtanFest from 17:00–21:00.
Temples, blessings, and yoga
All weekend, you can offer incense at Shiva’s shrine beside the Mandir, seeking harmony in family life and spiritual growth under the protection of Gopeshvara Mahadeva. Bhaktivedanta College’s choreographed yoga demo shows the discipline behind the practice, while an “office yoga” refresh session lands Saturday at 11:00 on the SpiritUp Terrace. Ayurvedic consultations are available all day at the Info tent by the Mandir.
Getting there and getting around
Arriving by train or long-distance bus to Somogyvár? With prior arrangement, a transfer service runs throughout the festival. On-site, ox-carts and a petite railway roll across the valley’s gentle hills for a little time travel in the open air.
Eco-values, open gates
Thirty-one years in, Krishna Valley stays true to its core: living in harmony with nature and each other. Nature trails and the organic garden swing wide for everyone. The message is simple: slow down with us, recharge with us. The gates open again, stronger and more colorful than ever.
When and where
Krishna Valley Farewell 2026 runs July 17–19, at 8699 Somogyvámos, Gouranga tér (Gouranga Square) 1. Expect shade even on the hottest days, lakes that cool the breeze, and a community ready to welcome you with music, flowers, and the scent of spices over an open fire.
