The legendary 13th Paál István National Amateur Drama Festival arrives at Székesfehérvár’s Öreghegy Community House (Öreghegyi Közösségi Ház) on October 25-26, 2025. This high-energy clash of amateur acting groups draws teams from across Hungary and beyond, all ready to showcase their skills, earn recognition, and take home major awards.
Who Wins the Applause?
A seasoned jury will reward the top three troupes, as well as hand out prizes for best direction, best performer, and outstanding newcomer. And because this is truly a festival for everyone, admission to all performances is absolutely free.
Back-to-Back Theater Action
Saturday kicks off after the 8:55 am opening and runs nonstop, starting with Örökség Group’s production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (Rosencrantz és Guildenstern halott), moving through crowd-pleasers like S.K. Company’s The Glass Slipper (Az üvegcipő), and reaching a Saturday night crescendo with The Blue Whirlpool Legend (A kék örvény legendája).
Sunday starts early with Marconi Project’s Pagan Dance (Pogánytánc) and features everything from Lord of the Flies to Cool Oldies (Menő aggok), closing with TriplaDuplaWé’s The Seagull (Sirály) before the awards ceremony.
