Nagykőrös (Nagykőrös) has a deep market tradition, holding its first fair under royal privilege in the 16th century. Today, the town hosts national livestock and traders’ markets 10 times a year, drawing between 5,000 and 25,000 visitors depending on the date and weather. The big St. George’s and St. Michael’s fairs can surpass 20,000 thanks to heritage programs with folk dancers, puppeteers, Hungarian folk songs, operetta, and classic fair entertainment.
When and where
The András Day Fair in Nagykőrös (Nagykőrös) takes place on December 7, 2025. Gates open early: the traders’ market at 4:30 a.m., the pig gate at 5:00 a.m., the cattle gate at 5:30 a.m., and the horse market gate at 6:00 a.m. The fair usually runs until 1–2 p.m., weather permitting.

This is the town’s final fair of the year, tuned to Advent and Christmas prep. Expect stalls piled with festive decorations and plenty of gift ideas for loved ones. Historic privileges
Market rights were reaffirmed by royal charter, and in December 1759, by the grace of the Apostolic Queen Maria Theresa, the loyal council and judge of Nagykőrös (Nagykőrös) received fair privileges. True to tradition, descendants of horsemen, cattlemen, swineherds, and shepherds may drive in all manner of hoofed livestock and other cattle. Also expected: today’s heirs of old guild crafts, merchants, grill cooks, as well as bards, lutenists, comedians, fire-eaters, jesters, and criers—anyone proving their trade with an authentic seal and paying the fair toll in good faith.
What’s on offer
Nearly 400 stallholders currently hold permits for the traders’ market, bringing a wonderfully mixed assortment of goods. Separate sections host animal sellers: horses, cattle, pigs (plus goats and sheep), poultry, and small animals. The organizers reserve the right to change times and programs.
