The show Angels and Architecture – Imre Makovecz (Makovecz Imre) 90 celebrates the visionary Hungarian architect’s 90th birthday with a full-sensory deep dive into his world. It presents his life’s work through drawings, models, photographs, audio and film recordings, plus music- and sound-based installations that pull you into his buildings as much as his mind.
Spirit Over Steel
The exhibition leans into Makovecz’s creative practice, spotlighting the hand-drawn intensity of his process and the organic forms that made him the face of Hungarian organic architecture. The curators foreground the symbolism that runs through his churches, community halls, and pavilions—structures that feel grown rather than built—along with the spiritual outlook that shaped them.
Inside the Architect’s Head
Expect soaring sketches, tactile models, film fragments, and immersive soundscapes that trace how ideas became spaces. It’s a rare chance to experience the poetics behind timber and light. The exhibition is open from November 21 to February 1.
