The magic of animal-assisted therapy (just call it animal therapy) lies in how the presence and close contact with different animals lift human physical, mental, and social well-being. Animals offer motivation, calm, a sense of safety, and can make it easier to communicate. Whether for rehab, learning, or comforting those in distress, these therapies are carried out by trained animals and professionals under strict hygiene and safety rules.
Conference: Animal Therapy in Action
On October 4, 2025, Budapest (Budapest) will host a series of talks on how animal-assisted therapies make a difference for people facing psychological disorders. Those who prefer can join online or watch the video recordings anytime between October 6 and 12.
Registration is open to everyone with advance sign-up and payment of the fee. The event will dive into the practical introduction of animal-assisted interventions—covering types, target groups, and exactly how to bring various animal species into healthcare, along with legal regulations.
Diverse Therapies and Real-Life Stories
Lectures include the psychophysiological background and mechanisms at work in animal-assisted interventions. There will be highlights on dog-focused therapy supporting adults with psychiatric and addiction issues, and eye-opening cases of dogs working wonders in children’s wards.
Equine therapy (horse therapy) gets its spotlight with models that are already up and running across Hungary (Magyarország). The psychiatric children’s unit at Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital (Kaposi Mór Oktató Kórház) will also share how rabbits, turtles, hedgehogs, and other animal partners fit seamlessly into the healing team.
Who Should Join and What’s the Cost?
Participation costs USD 60 for in-person, USD 74 for online. The event offers twelve credit points for doctors, dentists, and clinical psychologists, acknowledging specialties from addiction and child medicine to occupational health, psychiatry, and psychotherapy. Health workers in any field get eight points for attending. All accreditations are certified and official.
The organizers reserve the right to change the schedule or program.
