For three days next October, the main square of Kecskemét (Kecskemét) transforms into a lively local celebration. From October 10 to 12, 2025, the Aranyhomok Regional Development Association hosts the 22nd Autumn Local Product Festival and Aranyhomok Portéka Fair at the iconic Hírös Forrás Fountain (Hírös Forrás szökőkút). The event delights all ages, offering beloved local traditions, culinary highlights, cultural programs, and even a honey-themed Sunday.

Friday Kicks Off the Festivities

Friday begins at 4:30 PM with the official opening by Deputy Mayor Dr. Gábor Fekete, accompanied by musician Sándor Szabó on the tárogató. The annual award for “Kecskemét’s Farm Product Market Host of the Year” is presented. At 5 PM, the region’s wine knights—Mathiász János Wine Order (Mathiász János Borrend) and Kunság Women’s Wine Order (Kunsági Női Borrend)—lead the 6th Grand Regional Toast, followed by an evening performance by Csaba Olasz & Ritmo-akusztik Duo.

Saturday Bursts with Color and Flavor

Saturday from 10 AM features the 4th Kecskemét and Region Tourism Expo, nostalgic folk games, choir performances, and lively duos. There’s also a charity goulash cook-off supporting children’s speech therapy. The afternoon brings operettas, folk zither performances, local club shows, and a dog demonstration from the Hetényegyháza School for Dogs (Hetényegyházi Kutyaiskola). The evening concerts feature TBX Band at 5 PM and HangOverGang at 7 PM.

Sunday: Sweet, Sunny & Sticky

Sunday highlights Honey Day (Mézes Nap). Regional beekeepers will be selling and exhibiting honey from 10 AM, with a 1 PM talk on honey’s role in gastronomy and healthy living—including practical beekeeping tips. The festivities close with a relaxed jazz afternoon by the Penge Benge Jazz Band at 3 PM.


All Weekend, All Local

Throughout the weekend, visitors can join craft workshops, traditional folk games, and sample artisan products from local producers. Activities include grape pressing, pumpkin carving, prize drawings, and live cooking demonstrations. Don’t miss the honey cake sale by Fodor Confectionery (Fodor Cukrászda). Discover, taste, and celebrate the flavors of Kecskemét’s terroir—rain or shine.
