Balatonboglár’s Boglart Festival Returns With Music And Dance

Boglart Festival returns to Balatonboglár: folk-world music, workshops, showcase, and táncház nights at Babel Camp, Aug 26–30, 2026. Learn by day, dance till dawn. Tickets and discounts available.
when: 2026. February 26., Thursday

From August 26–30, 2026, the seventh Boglart Festival lands on the Balaton shore at Babel Camp, Balatonboglár, 8630, 28 Szabadság Street (Szabadság utca 28). It’s part intimate folk-world music festival, part hands-on music camp, part industry forum, part showcase. Days are for learning; nights split across two stages, then roll into a folk pub dance party until dawn.

Music, Camp, Community

Boglart thrives on a rare blend: it’s a creative workshop and a summer festival at once, where study, music, and Balaton’s heatwave nights find a groove together. That dual nature makes it a standout on the Hungarian and international circuit, offering more than a run of concerts—an open, collaborative space for artists, learners, and fans.

Who’s Playing and Teaching

Freshly announced: Belgium’s Enara Navaira, Senegal’s Afrikora, Istria’s Veja, plus Hungarian acts Okos Viola, Obadu, and house hosts Góbé. True to Boglart’s format, many performers double as daytime tutors—covering everything from Moldavian and string-band folk techniques to must-know music industry skills in workshops. Concert evenings slide into táncház, then world-music-meets-electronic sessions.

Showcase and Industry Meetups

After last year’s buzz, the showcase block returns, bringing together domestic and international professionals to meet and brainstorm. The first artist announcements arrive in the second half of November. Until then, passes are very affordable: festival passes, combo passes, 48-hour tickets, and day tickets are all on offer.

Tickets and Discounts

Discounted passes/tickets are now available for under-18s, over-64s, and teachers. If you’re joining the course or the showcase and eligible for discounts, combine discounted festival passes/day tickets with course passes/day tickets for the best deal. Free entry for kids under 10.

Dates: 2026.08.26–2026.08.30 • Location: Balatonboglár, 8630, 28 Szabadság Street (Szabadság utca 28).

2025, adrienne

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe with free entry for kids under 10 and discounts for under-18s and seniors, so it’s easy on a family budget
+
International lineup (Belgium, Senegal, Istria, Hungary) makes the music style familiar enough for world-music fans, even if you’re new to Hungarian folk
+
Lake Balaton is one of Hungary’s best-known holiday spots for foreigners, so the setting will feel like a legit summer getaway
+
No Hungarian needed to enjoy concerts and dancing; workshops and industry sessions often involve English or are hands-on, so you can follow along
+
Balatonboglár is reachable by train or bus from Budapest and has decent driving routes; once there, venues are walkable around the lakeshore
+
The festival blends camp-style workshops by day with concerts and táncház dance parties by night—more participatory than typical U.S. folk or world-music fests
+
Tickets are affordable with multiple pass options, and combo deals if you join courses, which is great compared with many U.S. festival prices
Cons
It’s still a niche event internationally compared to big-name European festivals, so don’t expect superstar headliners
Balatonboglár itself is less famous to U.S. travelers than Budapest or Lake Bled, so you may need to plan logistics a bit more carefully
Late-night schedule (dance parties till dawn) can be tough for families with small kids or travelers battling jet lag
Public transport is good but not 24/7; late finishes may require taxis or designated drivers if you’re staying farther from the venue
