Balatonfüred’s 2026 calendar is stacked from spring to late summer with festivals, concerts, food and wine weekends, museum days, comedy marathons, theater, sports, and endless cruises on Lake Balaton. May Day takes over the city
May 1 lands with a string of community blowouts: a Local History and Jókai Museum May Day, plus a Library Picnic and May Day, both in Balatonfüred. Kids get their own stage at the Balatonfüred Running May Day Children’s Race on Kossuth Lajos Street—free, but registration is required. Starts roll out from 11:30 by age group, with results at 13:00. Cyclists own the road at the 4th Balatonfondo, while the first spring lake breezes carry three days of Balatonfüred boat excursions from May 1–3.
Theater, fashion, and a taste of royalty
On May 2 at 19:00, Csillagfény Produkció stages the two-act comedy Könnyű erkölcsök at the Balatonfüred Congress Center, tickets 4,500 HUF (about 12.5 USD). Conversations, cinema, and houses that hold stories
May 2 at 18:00, the House of Jewish Excellence hosts its Living with Our Excellences series with guest Sándor Gabnai, Lutheran pastor and writer, talking vocation, the spirit of being “from Füred,” and daily challenges. The Balatonfüred cinema program runs weekly April 27–May 3 and keeps refreshing through the summer. Sergei Parajanov’s The Color of Pomegranates screens May 5 at Balaton Cinema, a magnet for film lovers.
Folk roots and housewarming
On May 9, the Arács Folk House throws open its doors: opening at 15:00 on Lóczy Lajos Street 101, followed by a 16:00 talk by Dr. Emőke S. Lackovits titled Boldogasszony ágya. Tarnai Katalin leads an interactive session, with the Balatonfüred Folk Dance Ensemble performing.
Engines, sails, and a peloton flash
Polish your chrome for the Balatonfüred Concours d’Elegance, May 15–17, as vintage beauties parade by the lake. The Sailing Season-Opening Ceremony and Regatta fires up on May 16. On May 17 around 14:26, the Tour de Hongrie peloton blitzes Balatonfüred along Route 71, through the Tesco roundabout toward Fürdő Street, then out toward Balatonszőlős. Spot them safely and expect brief traffic holds.
Eat, drink, cruise, repeat
Boat trips keep returning in weekly blocks across May and June, with special treats like the Balaton Fish and Wine Festival, May 22–25, serving lake classics and vintages. Kids rule again on Children’s Day Weekend, May 30–June 1, and a Children’s Day sightseeing cruise on May 31 makes memories on deck.
June warms up with festivals
