Balatonfüred’s 2026 calendar is packed with festivals, theater, concerts, film, food and wine, sports, and family fun across multiple venues in the lakeside town. Many programs offer online tickets, and plenty are free. Here’s what’s on from late May through September, with regular boat excursions and weekly cinema lineups anchoring the season.

Late May Highlights

On May 30 at 6 p.m., the House of Jewish Excellence hosts the theater piece “Rewrite it, Shakespeare!” by Spinoza Theatre with actor Antal Cserna, directed by András Surányi, written by Gábor Lackó, with dramaturgy by Lili Fabacsovics. Also May 30–31 is Children’s Weekend, plus Sportolj Füred, a two-day sports festival split between Forrás Sport Park and Balatonfüred Yacht Club. Expect more than 20 disciplines on water and land, family challenges, and shared activities — all free. On May 31, hop on a Children’s Day sightseeing cruise. From May 25–31, daily boat trips and the Balatonfüred cinema program run in tandem, continuing weekly rotations from early June.

Early to Mid-June

June 1–7 brings more lake cruises and new films. On June 4 at 5 p.m., the Balaton Chief Architect’s Office presents the book launch of Füred’s Architectural Typography as part of its Partmentén series. June 6 marks Family Day in the Koloska Valley, alongside Pilates Fest (June 6–7) and more boat excursions. On June 7, the production Poor Rich (Szegény gazdagok) plays at the Balatonfüred Congress Center. From June 8–14, cruises and the cinema schedule continue.

Books, Wine, Jazz — And Movement

The Book–Wine–Jazz (Könyv–Bor–Jazz) Festival lights up June 11–14, pairing literature with local wine and live jazz. On June 13, the 6th From Alpha to Omega Family Picnic (VI. Alfáktól Omegáig) returns at Gapa Terrace and Park Forest, Száka Dűlő; admission is free with registration. That same weekend (June 13–14), the resort hosts Pole Artistic Hungary, a dazzling international pole and aerial competition with pole art, glamour, hoop, and hammock categories — breathtaking strength, elegance, and artistry where gravity is just a detail. Cruises, films, and the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival (Magyar Mozgókép Fesztivál) follow June 15–21, with additional boat trips June 19–21.

Comedy, Guitars, and Summer Rhythm

On June 20, comedians András Péter Kovács and Eszter Ráskó hit the Dumaszínház stage at the Balaton Leisure and Conference Center. The same day, the Balatonfüred International Guitar Festival opens, running June 20–27. Weekly cruises and movies continue from June 22 through July 5, with a special synagogue walk on June 27: “Füred Rabbi” — tour the synagogue and city, and visit the House of Jewish Excellence with an authentic guide. Organist Gergely Rákász performs Mozart on July 1 at the Lutheran Church.

Ride, Ramble, and Klezmer

July 4 offers two guided outdoor programs: Túrajó – Füred Bike Adventure (KERÉKkaland) and Túrajó Walks – From the Tree to the Forest. July 6–12 brings more cruises and films, while July 10–12 debuts the 1st International Klezmer Festival of Hungary in Balatonfüred. On July 11, the Allianz Bay Crossing and SUP Challenge takes over the lake — one of Balaton’s biggest mass swims.

Dumafüred Takes Over

From mid-July, comedy dominates. On July 14, Hyppolit the Butler (Hyppolit, a lakáj) — a musical comedy in two acts — plays the open-air stage. July 17–26 is Dumafüred 2026, with nightly stand-up at the Balaton Leisure and Conference Center: Duma Jam with László Hadházi, András Péter Kovács, and Gergely Litkai; solo hours from István Dombóvári, Zoltán Kőhalmi, and Eszter Ráskó; themed lineups like Duma Aktuál and Duma Swing 3; and rotating all-star casts featuring Péter Felméri, Dániel Mogács, Dávid Dennis Musimbe, Ádám Kiss, and more. Prices range roughly from $21 to $31 per ticket (HUF 7,790–10,990). Special walks with the “Füred Rabbi” return July 18, and the Anna Festival unfolds July 21–26, coinciding with art fairs and multiple comedy specials. Look for the 201st Anna Ball on July 25, Balatonfüred’s most elegant tradition, flanked by the White Ribbon — Szabolcs Izsák Memorial Regatta (Fehér Szalag – Szabolcs Izsák Emlékverseny) that day.

Sailing Season Peaks

As July turns to August, the 58th Raiffeisen Blue Ribbon Grand Prix (Kékszalag) (July 30–August 1) crowns the sailing calendar — Europe’s largest round-the-lake race. Weekly film and cruise staples run August 3–9, with the Hungarian Sailing Federation’s Big-Boat Championship August 6–9. The “Füred Rabbi” tour appears again on August 7, the same day Balatonfüred Wine Weeks uncork from August 7–30 along the Tagore Promenade, pouring local vintages and hosting concerts deep into late summer.

Open-Air Theatre and Big-Stage Hits

The Pannon Castle Theatre brings family favorites to the BSZKK Open-Air Stage: The Jungle Book on August 11 and The Paul Street Boys on August 18. On August 12, The Wife Begins at Forty plays the outdoor stage. Concerts keep rolling: Crazy Little Queen Tribute Band on August 14; Attila Kökény & Viktor Rakonczai’s “I See You Again…” on August 15; and Best of Hungaria – Budapest Rock ’n’ Roll Band on August 21. A summer Bike Tour spins through town on August 23, and more stand-up returns August 29 with László Hadházi and Dávid Dennis Musimbe.

Into September

Weekly cinema programs continue August 31–September 20. The Salvatore Quasimodo Poetry Competition, a hallmark of Hungarian and international verse, takes place September 11–12, closing out a season where Balatonfüred feels like one long festival: boat rides to the horizon, jazz on the promenade, films after dark, and laughter carrying across the water.
