Balatonfüred packs its calendar with festivals, concerts, fashion, film, wine, sailing, yoga by the lake, and family days across multiple venues. Many tickets are available online, and the lakefront city stays busy from early summer through late August.
Highlights: Mid-June Spark
June 13 turns social with “An Evening with Gabriella Jakupcsek” at the Anna Grand Hotel—free entry, table reservations recommended. The same day, the Literary Fashion Salon hosts a talk with novelist Virág Vass at the Katti Zoób Fashion Museum at 5:00 pm. Families get their fix at the 6th From Alpha to Omega Family Picnic. Bookworms, oenophiles, and groove hunters meet at the Book-Wine-Jazz Festival (Könyv–Bor–Jazz), June 12–13.
June 13–14, Pole Artistic Hungary arrives with a spectacular international pole dance and aerial competition—pole art, glamour, hoop, and hammock categories where gravity is just a detail. Also all weekend: lake cruises and a full Balatonfüred cinema program (June 8–14), with more sailings June 15–18 and fresh film listings June 15–21.
Yoga, Openings, and Lake Life
Roll out your mat for International Yoga Day on the waterfront, June 17 at 5:30 pm on Tagore Promenade near the Széchenyi statue. June 19 features two art openings: graphic designer Milán Takács debuts “From Matter to Light” at Arács Community House (Balatonfüred, Lóczy Lajos St. 62) at 5:00 pm, opened by museum educator Orsolya Nyitrai with live folktronica–downtempo by Levente Holb “Zsörk.” The show spans paper-based, digitally made collages, experimental images, design works (posters, logos), and analog photos, on view through August 24 (Mon, Thu 10:00–4:00; Wed 12:00–4:00). At 6:00 pm, Andrea Weichinger opens “Cloud and Water – Contemplation in the Landscape” at the Huray Villas, followed by a free concert from guitarist Gaspar Thorpe. Free tie-in events there: June 20, 9:00 am yoga and breathwork with the artist; June 26, 6:00 pm Folly Arboretum showcase; Sept 18, 6:00 pm architect Miklós Weichinger on Balaton architecture; Sept 25, 5:00 pm BBC correspondent Nick Thorpe on the Carpathians and the Danube. The exhibition is free through Sept 27 during the neighboring Tourinform office hours.
Stand-Up, Night of Museums, and Sunset Boats
June 20 goes big: comic duo András Péter Kovács and Eszter Ráskó kick off summer at Dumaszínház in the Balaton Leisure and Conference Center, with tickets at $26.70. Catch a Chill Boat for sunset views, great tracks, and cocktails. Night of Museums unfolds citywide, while families sprawl on the lawn for Tale Picnic at the Huray Villas at 6:00 pm with stories by Benedek Elek and Zsuzsanna Czipri, narrated by Edit Szabadi. The International Guitar Festival strums through June 20–27. More lake cruises June 19–21 and June 22–25, plus rolling cinema listings June 22–28.
July: Music, Salsa, Klezmer, and Crossing the Bay
Organ virtuoso Gergely Rákász plays Mozart July 1 at the Evangelical Church (from $16.70). Weekend cruises continue July 3–5. On July 4, discover the “From Tree to Forest” Túrajó walk or join the Füred Bike Adventure—both from $10.90—then glide into another Chill Boat at sunset.
July 6–12 brings more cruises and movies, while the Hungarian Summer Salsa Festival heats up July 7–13. Party Boats (disco cruises) leave the Harbor Station July 9, 16, 23, and 30, plus Aug 6 and 13. The 1st International Klezmer Festival lands July 10–12. Another Chill Boat sails July 11, as thousands dive into the Allianz Bay Crossing and SUP Challenge the same day.

Füred Art Week turns the town into an art market July 24–26. On July 25, sailors honor Szabolcs Izsák in the Blue Ribbon Memorial Regatta (Fehér Szalag Emlékverseny), kids board the Children’s Boat for pirates, magic, treasure hunts, and games, and sunset seekers grab another Chill Boat. The city dons eveningwear for the 201st Anna Ball the same night. Hadházi brings Dogs (from $23.70) and more All Stars comedy rounds out the night. July 27–Aug 2 brings fresh movie listings and cruises; July 28 stages Be Good Till Death (Légy jó mindhalálig) by Pannon Várszínház from $23.80.
August: Blue Ribbon, Wine Weeks, and Big Tributes
The 58th Raiffeisen Blue Ribbon Grand Prix dominates July 30–Aug 1—Central Europe’s classic long-distance sailing race. Aug 1 reprises the Children’s Boat and the Chill Boat. Aug 3–9 and 10–16 keep the reels spinning and boats cruising, while the Hungarian Sailing Federation’s Big Boat Championship runs Aug 6–9. Guided Jewish heritage walks with “The Rabbi of Füred” tour the synagogue, city, and House of Jewish Excellence on Aug 7. Balatonfüred Wine Weeks uncork Aug 7–30, lining Tagore Promenade with wineries and food stalls under the trees.
Families reboard the Children’s Boat Aug 8 and 15, with more Chill Boats those evenings. The outdoor stage hosts The Jungle Book Aug 11 (from $23.80) and The Wife Begins at Forty Aug 12 (from $24.90 to $30.50).
