Tiszafüred: Tour de Lake Tisza Rolls Out
May 9, 2026, brings the 19th BorsodChem Tour de Lake Tisza (Tour de Tisza-tó) to Tiszafüred, circling one of Hungary’s most stunning natural treasures, Lake Tisza. Think freedom, motion, and nature on two wheels—family spin, friends’ day out, or flat-out chase. Choose from three distances: 28 km, 65 km, or 100 km. Cruise easy or hammer hard—the road is yours. Mátrafüred: Climb to Hungary’s Roof
On May 17, the 29th Kékes Peak Run (Kékes Csúcsfutás) and Kékes Peak Run Trail deliver one of BSI’s most iconic tests: 11.6 km with 2,201 feet of elevation gain straight to the country’s highest point. Asphalt or trail, it’s all legs and lungs in the Mátra, with crisp mountain air and that final uphill that sticks in your memory. Location: 3232 Mátrafüred.
Budapest: Women Take City Park
June 7 brings the 31st ALDI Women’s Running Gala (ALDI Női Futógála), now in Budapest’s City Park (Városliget, Napozórét) in District 14. A celebration for women—seasoned runners and first-timers alike—where you set your pace and own your day. Pick your challenge:

Nyáregyháza: The Joyfully Muddy One

Budapest: Open-Water Season Starts in the City
On June 20, the 4th MOL Campus Bay Swim (MOL Campus Öbölúszás) splashes into the BudaPart at Flava Beach, District 11. This urban open-water swim offers safe, buoy-lined distances of 500 m, 1500 m, 3000 m, and 4500 m. While you stroke across the bay, your crew can chill or cheer on the green lawns of Kopaszi Dam (Kopaszi-gát).

June 27 hosts the 32nd KIPRUN Running Night (KIPRUN Futóest), a midsummer night run on Andrássy Avenue and around Heroes’ Square in District 14. July 18 brings the 44th Lidl Lake Balaton Crossing (Balaton-átúszás). Will you make it? Join 10,000-plus swimmers taking on Lake Balaton, Hungary’s “sea.” The classic 5.2 km crossing, a 2.6 km half-distance, and even a SUP crossing of the country’s largest lake. October 10–11 marks the 41st SPAR Budapest Marathon Festival (SPAR Budapest Maraton), Hungary’s biggest mass-participation sports event and a must-tick for anyone eyeing the queen of distances. Run the marathon on October 11 along a gorgeous, varied route with a roaring field—or sample the festival’s many shorter races across the two days. Plenty for first-timers and PB hunters alike.
