
For decades, Budapest Sport Office (BSI) has been Hungary’s go-to organizer for mass-participation sports. Their futanet.hu calendar brings together the country’s biggest and most-loved runs, rides, and open-water swims—marathons, half marathons, city runs, family days. Scan, pick, and jump in. The same message runs through it all: move together, make memories, and have fun.
December 2025: Budapest Turns Red
10th Penny Santa Run – December 7, Budapest, 9th District, Fővám Square (Fővám tér). The day you become Santa. Budapest dresses in red as families, friends, and running buddies jog through the heart of the city in full festive mode. Throw on the red suit and bring the smiles.
January 2026: Winter Challenge
10th Powerade Zúzmara Half Marathon & Running Festival – January 18, Budakalász (2011 Budakalász). Hungary’s signature winter race returns at the Budakalász Sports Hall with snow crunching underfoot and crisp air in your lungs. Distances: Half Marathon, 10 km, 21+10 km combo, and 3.4 km. Register early, layer up, and savor the winter vibe.
Late February–Early March: Balaton Week
16th Balaton Supermarathon – February 26–March 1, Siófok (8600). Four days running around Lake Balaton solo, in pairs, or in teams. Choose the full circuit or shorter stages and feast on lakeside views, camaraderie, and the satisfaction of stepping outside your comfort zone. Categories: individual, pair, 3–4-person team, 5–8-person team.
Gulf Half Marathon – February 27, Keszthely (8360). A Friday half. Yes, a race-day Friday. Start in Keszthely, finish in Szigliget. Sort your home office; BSI handles the rest. Party pace for 21 km? Absolutely.
Maratonfüred – February 28, Badacsony–Badacsonytomaj (8258). Not ready for ultras? Kick open spring with a lakeside marathon. The 26.2 miles (42.2 km) hug the shore as Balaton wakes from winter.
HalfBalaton Supermarathon – February 28–March 1, Badacsony–Badacsonytomaj (8258). A 94.8 km weekend built for teams or solo grinders. Split daily sections however you like; a three-person relay can get it done with roughly 9–12 miles (15–20 km) per day. Categories: individual, pair, 3-person team, 5–8-person team.
Magaspart Half Marathon – March 1, Balatonkenese (8172). Run the scenic high shore from Balatonkenese to Siófok. Lakeside sections, end-of-winter light, and the buzz of finishing on the Balaton Supermarathon’s last-day line.
March in Budapest: City in Bloom
41st Telekom Vivicittá – March 21–22, Budapest, 13th District. Spring season opener on Margaret Island (Margitsziget) with routes past the capital’s icons. Everyone finds a fit—walkers, families, first-timers, PR chasers. March 21: 15 km City Hike, 8 km City Hike, 3-person Relay, Minicittá 1.49 miles (2.4 km), Walk, Family Run, Midicittá 4.35 miles (7 km). March 22: Half Marathon, 10 km, Pairs Half Marathon, Trio Half Marathon.
May: Business, Bikes, and Mountains
2nd E.ON Business Run – May 6, Budapest, 9th District. From 6 p.m. in the National Athletics Center, an after-work corporate get-together with competition, teamwork, and a post-run party vibe.
19th BorsodChem Tour de Lake Tisza (Tour de Tisza-tó) – May 9, Tiszafüred (5350). Ride around Lake Tisza your way: 17 miles (28 km), 40 miles (65 km), or 62 miles (100 km). Family-friendly cruising or all-out speed—nature and freedom on two wheels.
29th Kékes Peak Run & Kékes Trail – May 17, Mátrafüred (3232). Tackle Hungary’s rooftop. Road or trail options take you up to Kékes with a climb you’ll remember.
June: Women, Mud, Night Lights, and Open Water
31st ALDI Women’s Run Gala – June 7, Budapest, 9th District. Népliget sets the stage for a women-powered day: 10 km solo or pair, 5 km, 1.55 miles (2.5 km), 1.55-mile walk, 3-person relay (3×1.24 miles/2 km), and a 0.62-mile (1000 m) family run. Shake off the to-do list and run with the crew that gets it.
Brutálfutás 15.0 – June 13, Nyáregyháza (2723). The longest 4.35 and 1.43 miles (7 and 2.3 km) of your life—with mud, splashes, and laughs. Low on heavy obstacles, high on pure fun. You won’t finish dry or clean.
4th MOL Campus Bay Swim – June 20 (rain date June 21), Budapest, 11th District, BudaPart, Flava Beach. Try 500, 1500, 3000, or 4500 meters in a city-center bay with safety support. Friends can chill on Kopaszi Dam (Kopaszi-gát) while you cross the water.
32nd KIPRUN Night Run – June 27, Budapest, 14th District. Race the half marathon solo, in pairs, or trios—or take on a quarter marathon—under the lights of Andrássy Avenue and Heroes’ Square. History, city glow, fast streets.
July: The Big Swim
44th Lidl Balaton Crossing – July 18, Révfülöp (8253). Hungary’s largest open-water swim draws 10,000+ to conquer Lake Balaton. Go the classic 3.23 miles (5.2 km), the half 1.62 miles (2.6 km), or SUP across the lake. Rain dates: July 19, 25, 26; August 1, 2, 8, 9.
September: Half Marathon Capital
41st Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon – September 6, Budapest, 11th District. The “doable distance” with maximum energy. Run solo, pair up, go trio, or race the 10 km through the most beautiful parts of the capital. Distances: Half Marathon, Pairs Half, Trio Half, 10 km.
October: Marathon Weekend
41st SPAR Budapest Marathon Festival – October 10–11, Budapest, 11th District. Hungary’s biggest mass-sport event and a bucket-list must. A gorgeous, varied route with tens of thousands of runners and plenty of shorter options across the two-day program. The marathon itself is on October 11.
November: Balaton Season Closer
23rd Balaton … November 21–22. Details to be announced, but the lake bookends the year with another classic by BSI. Keep an eye on the calendar for the final reveal.
