Budapest’s Zsilip Center, a two-level playhouse with learning rooms at 1 Újpesti Wharf (Újpesti rakpart 1.), is rolling out a full slate of kid-friendly, culture-rich programs in early 2026. The Zsiliputi lineup blends playful learning with Jewish traditions, welcoming families to explore holidays, mitzvot, and values together—while kids get hands-on activities and parents can join adult study next door in the synagogue. Mark your calendar for a run of Friday night and Sunday morning sessions built for ages 4–14 and teens in training.
Friday Night: “Little Friday” Warm-Up
On January 30, 2026, Zsilip launches Péntekecske (Little Friday) in the Zsiliputi playhouse with a mini Shabbat welcome for kids—led by a madricha—while adults listen to Rabbi Glitzi’s teaching in the synagogue. The children’s session dives into the weekly Torah portion, Shabbat, and current holidays, with pictures, lively games, and a gentle pace that keeps everyone engaged. Paying attention pays off: there are treats for good listeners and even a raffle. Bring the whole family and make learning part of Shabbat in Budapest.
Sunday Mornings: Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School
Starting February 1, 2026, the beloved Sunday kids’ program returns in refreshed form as the Zsiliputi Zsidó Vasárnapi Iskola (Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School). For years, hundreds of children who spent their Sunday mornings at Zsilip have swapped stories about the friendships and fun—plus the playful learning—they experienced here. Now it’s back at the Zsilip Center, fully equipped with its two-story playhouse and multiple study rooms, ready to welcome new cohorts while stirring up the same energy and warmth.
Who It’s For and When to Come
A young, enthusiastic team welcomes everyone aged 4–14 (and teens) every Sunday from 10:00 to 12:30. Sessions are split by age group so kids meet peers and learn at a level that fits. Together, participants prepare for upcoming holidays, study mitzvot, get to know living traditions, and pick up the values that carry through life. Whether you’re little or already a teen, gearing up to be an ifi (youth leader) or still ahead of your bar/bat mitzvah, the Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School was made for you.
More Dates, Same Spirit
Péntekecske returns on February 6 and February 13, 2026, again pairing Rabbi Glitzi’s synagogue teaching for adults with the playhouse’s child-focused mini Shabbat program—weekly portion, Shabbat rhythms, timely holidays, picture-led storytelling, and plenty of games. Rewards for focus and a raffle keep the excitement high. Sunday School sessions continue on February 8 and February 15, 2026, with the same Sunday 10:00–12:30 structure, age-group classes, and shared journey through holidays, mitzvot, traditions, and enduring values.
Plan Your Visit
All programs take place at the Zsilip Center, 1137 Budapest, 1 Újpesti Wharf (Újpesti rakpart 1.). The family-friendly setup makes it easy: while adults settle into learning with the rabbi, kids dive into guided, creative sessions that turn tradition into a hands-on adventure. Expect more dates ahead—this season lists 14 in total—so families can build a rhythm around Friday night starts and Sunday morning follow-through. Come as you are, stay for the community, and leave with stories your kids will share for years.
