Budapest KiddieTime Brings Music, Drama, Krav Maga
Family-friendly KiddieTime in Budapest: weekly music, Torah drama, and Krav Maga for ages 3–10 at Óbuda Synagogue. Free, registration required. Build confidence, community, and joyful Jewish learning together.
when: 2026.01.28., Wednesday
where: 1036 Budapest, Lajos utca 163.

Every Wednesday from 4:30–6:00 p.m., the Óbuda Synagogue turns into a buzzing family hub as KiddieTime rolls out a weekly mix of music, learning, drama play, and Krav Maga for kids ages 3–10 and their parents. It’s hands-on, joy-first Jewish education in a relaxed community space, designed to explore traditions, values, and stories together.

How the afternoon flows

Each session unfolds in three parts. First comes a music block where kids and parents sing Hebrew songs, learn simple prayers, and pick up tunes tied to the holidays. Energy stays high, and little ones get a feel for rhythm, language, and shared rituals without pressure.

Stories brought to life

Next up: the weekly Torah portion through drama pedagogy. Guided by a drama educator, children dive into narratives with play, role-play, and creating, turning ancient stories into something they can act out, question, and remember.

Move, focus, feel strong

The finale is movement: a kid-friendly Krav Maga class led by a coach with experience in Israel. Beyond fitness, it builds confidence, discipline, and a sense of belonging.

Dates, leaders, practicals

Led by Zsuzsa Szilánk (EMIH head of education), with programs by Miri Radó and Jewish content by Petra Nagy. Free; registration required. Upcoming Wednesdays in Budapest: 2026.01.28; 2026.02.04; 2026.02.11; 2026.02.18; 2026.02.25. Venue: 1036 Budapest, Lajos Street (Lajos utca) 163. Organizers reserve the right to change times and programs.

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe is strong—music, drama, and beginner Krav Maga keep 3–10-year-olds engaged while parents join in
+
Joy-first Jewish learning makes it welcoming even if your family’s new to the traditions
+
Free with registration, so it’s a low-risk add-on to a Budapest itinerary
+
Held at Óbuda Synagogue, giving you a cultural peek beyond typical tourist spots
+
Easy midweek timing (Wednesdays 4:30–6:00 p.m.) that fits before dinner
+
Budapest is well-known internationally and easy to reach; Óbuda is a safe, residential area
+
Public transport and taxis in Budapest are reliable; Lajos utca is reachable by tram/bus and car - The specific “KiddieTime” program isn’t widely known internationally, so you won’t find many reviews
Cons
Basic Hebrew songs/prayers are part of the session; not required, but total newcomers may feel a touch out of depth
Limited to select Wednesdays with possible schedule changes, so planning needs flexibility
Compared with kids’ museum programs elsewhere, this is shorter and more niche (Jewish-focused), not a full-day attraction
