Budapest’s Zsilip Center is turning Sundays and Friday evenings into a lively mix of play, learning, and tradition for families. Located at 1137 Budapest, 13th District, Újpesti rakpart 1, the two-story playhouse with multiple study rooms hosts the refreshed Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School and cozy Friday-night “Péntekecske” gatherings, drawing children and parents into community life through games, stories, and hands-on holiday prep.

Where and when

The Zsiliputi program rolls out across several dates this spring. The Sunday School meets on May 17, May 24, and May 31, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:30. The family-friendly Friday mini–Shabbat welcomes families on May 22, May 29, and June 5, 2026, in the Zsiliputi playhouse, timed alongside synagogue study with Rabbi Glitzi. All events take place at the Zsilip Center on the Danube Embankment in Budapest’s 13th District.

Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School

The beloved Sunday kids’ program is back with a new name and the same contagious energy. Hundreds of kids who spent Sunday mornings here still swap stories about the fun and the playful learning they shared. Now, the Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School returns to the fully equipped Zsilip Center, pairing a two-level play space with bright study rooms that buzz with activity.
A young, enthusiastic team welcomes every child aged 4 to 14 (teens included) from 10:00 to 12:30. Grouped by age, kids:
– prepare for upcoming holidays together,
– learn about mitzvot in ways that click,
– get to know Jewish traditions through games and images,
– and pick up values that stick for life.
Whether you’re little or already teen-curious, gearing up to be a young leader, or looking ahead to Bar/Bat Mitzvah, the Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School is made for you. Expect lively rooms, hands-on craft moments, giggles that echo down the hallway, and take-home memories that last well beyond the weekend.

“Péntekecske” Friday Evenings

Friday nights at Zsilip are built for the whole family. While adults attend Rabbi Glitzi’s teaching in the synagogue, kids settle into a warm, age-tuned mini–Shabbat experience in the playhouse. A madricha leads playful sessions on the weekly Torah portion, Shabbat, and upcoming holidays—supported by visuals, stories, and games that pull everyone in.
There’s motivation baked in: kids who listen closely can snag a small gift, and yes, there’s even a raffle. The mood is easygoing and communal—come as a family and let everyone learn something meaningful as Shabbat arrives. It’s the kind of Friday that resets the week, one shared song and story at a time.

Why families love it

Zsilip bridges curiosity and community. The setup respects every age group, the staff brings heart, and the content is as hands-on as it is heritage-rich. With multiple dates ahead and a central riverside location, it’s an easy yes for parents and a runaway hit for kids. Bring your questions, your energy, and your crew—Budapest’s Zsiliputi is ready.
