Budapest’s Zsilip Center is turning Friday nights and Sunday mornings into a playful deep dive into Jewish life for kids and families. At 1137 Budapest, Újpesti rakpart 1, the two-story playhouse and study-room-filled hub hosts Zsiliputi programs that blend games, stories, and hands-on learning with a warm community vibe. Families are encouraged to come together: while adults attend teachings in the synagogue, children get their own lively, age-appropriate sessions packed with discovery and fun—and yes, prizes and a raffle are part of the deal.
Friday Evenings: Péntekecske Welcomes Shabbat
On 2026.01.30., 2026.02.06., and 2026.02.13., the Péntekecske Friday evening gatherings roll out a mini Shabbat welcome just for the kids inside the Zsiliputi playhouse. Little ones are guided by a madricha through playful activities centered on the weekly Torah portion, Shabbat, and current holidays, all supported by pictures and energetic games. Older kids get time with Rabbi Glitzi (Glici), whose teachings for adults run in the synagogue at the same time. Those who listen closely can snag a gift—and there’s even a tombola to keep excitement high. Bring the whole family and make learning a natural part of Shabbat.
Sunday Mornings: Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School
On 2026.02.01., 2026.02.08., and 2026.02.15., the Zsiliputi Zsidó Vasárnapi Iskola (Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School) returns refreshed, once again filling the Zsilip Center with the buzz of weekend learning through play. Hundreds of kids have spent Sunday mornings here and still talk about the memories years later—thanks to shared games that sneak in real learning. Now the Sunday cheder is back under the Zsiliputi banner, making use of the center’s two-level playhouse and plenty of study rooms.
A youthful, enthusiastic team welcomes children and teens ages 4–14 from 10:00 to 12:30, dividing groups by age so everyone gets the right pace and spark. The plan is simple and joyful:
– prepare together for upcoming holidays,
– learn together about mitzvot,
– get to know traditions together,
– and pick up the values that carry us through life.
Whether you’re little or already a teen, headed toward leadership or standing before your Bar/Bat Mitzvah, the Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School is designed for you.
