Budapest’s beloved Sunday kids’ buzz is back at 1 Újpesti rakpart: the revamped Zsilip Jewish Sunday School (Zsiliputi Zsidó Vasárnapi Iskola) is reopening inside the Zsilip Center, a two-story playground packed with study rooms, games, and creative corners. Hundreds of children have made memories here—shared play, playful learning, and friendships that lasted. Now the Sunday school returns with fresh energy, a new name, and the same warm community vibe for ages 4–14 every Sunday morning.
The program runs Sundays from 10:00 to 12:15 (some notes list 12:30) at Zsilip, in Budapest’s 13th District. A young, enthusiastic team welcomes kids and tweens for age-based sessions where they prepare for holidays together, learn about mitzvot, explore traditions, and soak up values that shape a lifetime. Whether you’re little, tweening, nearly a youth leader, or getting ready for your bar/bat mitzvah, this Sunday school is for you.
Group I: Ages 4–6 – “Hullám” Group
In the green-themed Hullám group, Jewish stories and heroes spring to life through play, laughter, and heaps of crafts. Expect discovery, storytelling, and making things together until everyone feels like part of a real little community. Sundays 10:00–12:15.
Group II: Ages 7–9 – Creativity and Stories
From September, count on hands-on creativity, Jewish stories, games, and an upbeat vibe. The team can’t wait to meet as many smiling “little seashells” as possible. Sundays 10:00–12:15.
Group III: Ages 10–11 – Community and Discovery
Welcome to the Yam group: a small, spirited community where you can create, play, laugh, and explore. There will be Jewish stories, crafting, friendship-building, and plenty of good cheer to go around. Sundays 10:00–12:15.
Group IV: Ages 12–13 – Bar/Bat Mitzvah Club
The BMC kicks off fall Sundays with big energy, laughter, and good vibes. For those stepping toward adulthood, this is where becoming an official member of the community takes shape. Expect conversations about Jewish values and traditions, your own questions, plus games, crafts, shared thinking, experiences, creative challenges, and project work. Sundays 10:00–12:15.
Group V: Ages 13–14 – Training Future Madrichim
In the MKZ group, future madrichim train weekly to model leadership and become effective facilitators. You’ll learn about children’s needs and development, and how to support them as a madrich—all in a positive, Jewish-spirited atmosphere. Sundays 10:00–12:15.
