Free guided tours kick off every Saturday at the Parliament Museum in Budapest, inviting visitors to dive into A Thousand Years of Hungarian Legislation (A magyar törvényhozás ezer éve), a continually refreshed exhibition. The 45-minute tours start at 10:00 a.m. from the Visitor Centre of the Hungarian Parliament Building, at 1055 Budapest, Kossuth Lajos Square (Kossuth Lajos tér) 1–3, in the 5th District (Belváros-Lipótváros).
Structured in eight chapters and told in chronological order, the exhibition traces the roots, formation, and evolution of Hungarian parliamentarism from the Middle Ages to the regime change. The opening section follows the story from the earliest assemblies to the estates-based Diet. The second section spans up to 1918, charting the birth of the modern parliament—from the Reform Era assemblies through the emergence of a representative legislature to the consolidation of a new, principle-based parliamentary system. The third section covers 1918–1990, capturing the twists, false starts, and restarts that reshaped parliamentary life.
Visitors can explore the essence of the Golden Bull and the April Laws through interactive features and gain a fuller picture of the searching-and-restarting years between 1918 and 1990. Participation requires registration by 10:00 a.m. the day before via the provided email; a maximum of 30 participants may join each tour, with entry confirmed by showing the reply email.
