Budapest’s Hungarian National Gallery is rolling out baby-friendly guided tours for new parents eager to soak up art with infants under one. The playful “Mama, nézd!” (Mama, look!) series invites moms and dads to explore the gems of Hungarian painting together—without stressing over a hungry or crying baby. Meeting point: the information desk. Each session runs 60 minutes, max 17 participants, and costs $5.50 per visit, admission included. Tour guide headsets keep things calm and clear, and for artwork safety, baby carriers must be fastened on the front.
Mama, nézd! – The Silence Speaks
January 15, 11:00–12:00 and January 29, 11:00–12:00, Szent György Square (Szent György tér) 2. The focus is Lajos Tihanyi, one of the most original figures of Hungarian avant‑garde art, whose childhood illness left him deaf and mute. The tour traces how a profound limitation became a creative advantage, shaping a strikingly singular visual language. Museum educators—many of them parents—designed the format specifically for families with newborns, recognizing how few museum programs truly welcome them.
Mama, nézd! – The Beauty of the Body
February 5, 11:00–12:00. The human body, especially the nude, is a near-constant in art history, mirroring each era’s ideals and its model of the human being. This tour explores the refreshed exhibition “Nude Sculptures from the Turn of the Century” (Aktszobrok a századfordulóról), spotlighting how form, proportion, and taste evolved during a pivotal moment in art.
