Details are coming soon, but expect fireworks-level virtuosity to start the year on a high note.

Chameleon Jazz Band – Happy 2026

Saturday, January 3, at 8:00 PM, Artisjus Award–winning trombonist Rezső Bálint leads the Chameleon Jazz Band into the Dome Hall for their tradition-rich New Year’s concert. Fresh off a five-country anniversary tour, the band opens a new chapter: alongside fusion and jazz-rock, they unveil glossy jazz-pop originals from a new album. The set blends brand-new tracks with fan-favorite hits. January gigs from this crew always feel special—grab tickets now and celebrate together. Lineup: Rezső Bálint (trombone, vocals), Márk Ádám Birinyi (piano), Áron Sárosi (bass guitar), Bertalan Sárkány (percussion), Attila Telek (drums).

New Year’s Gala Concert – György Solti Orchestra (Solti György)

The second half, Tempo di Verbunkos, journeys through folk dance melodies from Rózsavölgyi to Bartók, performed by the Hegyvidék György Solti Orchestra (Hegyvidék Solti György) with members of the János Bihari Dance Ensemble (Bihari János), joined by the Girls’ Choir (conductor Emese Zulauf) and a women’s chorus of solfège and piano teachers. Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe with early and evening shows, student performers, and zero rowdy club energy
+
Easy online ticketing and clear address (MOM Cultural Center, 18 Csörsz St.) make planning from the U.S. simple
+
Budapest is a well-known, affordable Euro city with great winter charm and lots to do around New Year’s
+
No Hungarian needed—music is universal and concert logistics are straightforward
+
Public transport is excellent: MOM Cultural Center is reachable by metro/tram/bus, with taxis and rideshare plentiful; driving and parking are doable
+
Mix of jazz, fusion, and folk-classical gives you a uniquely Hungarian flavor you won’t get at typical NYC or London NYE concerts
+
Compared to similar New Year concerts in Vienna or Prague, tickets are usually cheaper and crowds thinner while quality stays high - The artists (e.g., Chameleon Jazz Band, Orosz, Solti ensembles) aren’t internationally famous, so star-power seekers may be underwhelmed
Cons
MOM Cultural Center isn’t a tourist landmark, so first-timers might need map help and extra transit time
Winter travel and post-holiday schedules can cause program changes or delays
If you want fireworks/party spectacle, this is more seated-concert culture than big street celebration
