Budapest’s ARAZ Restaurant is keeping Sundays delicious in 2026 with a build-your-own two- or three-course lunch menu, complete with a complimentary drink and coffee. Tucked inside Continental Hotel Budapest Superior at 42–44 Dohány Street, this downtown spot serves weekend lunch between 12:00 and 14:30, inviting diners to mix and match from three soups, five mains, and three desserts. Chef de Cuisine Áron Barka and his team refresh the lineup weekly, so regulars always find something new without straying far from comforting Hungarian roots.
What’s on the menu
Soups set the tone: Bakonyi betyárleves (Bakony Outlaw Soup), a hearty countryside favorite; creamy garlic soup with cheesy toast; and Frankfurt soup finished with sausage chips. Mains travel from Budapest to Tokyo and back: tonkatsu, Japanese-style breaded pork loin with spiced potatoes and pickled cucumber and cabbage; beef lasagna drenched in four-cheese sauce; roast turkey with horseradish sauce, French toast, and roasted beet salad; tomato-braised cabbage with veggie patties for a solid vegetarian option; and breaded cod with spinach risotto. Dessert keeps it classic and indulgent: banana bundt cake with chocolate ice cream and salted peanut caramel; túrós rétes (curd-cheese strudel) with vanilla custard; and the iconic Sachertorte.
Prices, drinks, and the small print
Two courses are $19.83 per person, three courses $24.15 per person, and the offer includes one mineral water or soft drink, a glass of wine or beer, and a cup of coffee. The hotel behind the kitchen
Continental Hotel Budapest Superior blends Art Nouveau flair with sleek modern design in the city’s historic center. It offers 272 rooms, including 13 suites, plus high-speed internet, tailored business services, five well-equipped conference rooms, an underground garage, wellness and fitness facilities, massage, the ARAZ Restaurant, the Gallery Café & Corporate Lounge, inner courtyards, and a Panorama Roof Garden—handy for business travelers and city-breakers alike.
Café culture, revived
The hotel’s lovingly restored Gallery Café (Galéria Kávézó), easiest to reach from the main entrance, nods to the golden age of Pest Cafés (“Pesti Kávéházak”). The former Continental Hotel (Continental Szálló) welcomed artists and writers—among them Attila József—while many from the Hungária Café (Hungária Kávéház) circle were regulars at the old Hungária Bath. Today, ARAZ keeps that spirit alive with weekly menus, a Sunday brunch, seasonal specials, and distinctive wine dinners that fuse tradition with contemporary technique—sometimes even hinting at the future. Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs.
