Budapest’s Budapest Retro Experience Center (Budapest Retro Élményközpont) throws open its doors every Wednesday with a sweet perk for seniors: buy a museum entry ticket on-site and you’ll be greeted with a free retro coffee or a glass of syrup drink. They serve some of the best coffee in the neighborhood, and the exhibition is proudly, irresistibly fun. The offer is only valid on Wednesdays for tickets purchased at the venue and can’t be combined with other discounts. Find it at 1051 Budapest, District V, Belváros-Lipótváros, 4 Október 6 Street (Október 6. utca 4). Next dates: 2026.04.29 and 2026.05.06, Budapest. Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs.
Interactive Time Travel
Step into a hands-on retro world: patrol a virtual Gazdagrét housing estate in an original Lada police car turned simulator, try your voice as a newsreader in a period news studio (Híradó) set with two original working TV cameras, and see the type of spacesuit worn by Bertalan Farkas on Soyuz 36—plus what he took for the long trip. Duck into functioning retro phone booths to hear period audio, and snap selfies at the ÁFOR gas station where VALMAR shot the Úristen video. Tech lovers can ogle top ’80s–’90s gear: the 64-kilobyte Commodore personal computer, the Videoton TV game (Videoton TV-játék), and the era’s coolest handheld quartz games.
