when: 2025.11.17., Monday
where: 1123 Budapest, Jagelló út 1-3.

Hi, collectors: Virág Judit Gallery is staging a three-part auction event in Budapest—two live sales and a timed online edition—spanning Zsolnay ceramics to hard-hitting postwar and contemporary art. Venue: Budapest Music Center; address: 1123 Jagelló út 1–3. Dates below, with viewing in sync with the live auctions at the gallery.

Zsolnay Ceramic Auction – Nov 17

Round five of the gallery’s Zsolnay sale puts Hungarian heritage center stage with historicist masterpieces and swoon-worthy Art Nouveau: cachepots, cigar vases, and classic vases. A headliner is a giant 1906 cachepot combining the panorama motifs seen on the most coveted cigar vases—think full-on Zsolnay theater under the hammer.

Postwar & Contemporary – Nov 19

The 17th edition surveys neo-avant-garde and postmodern currents from the 1960s onward, the Pécs Workshop (Pécsi Műhely), New Sensibility, artists of the French diaspora, and sharp currents of today. Look for standout paintings by Ilona Keserü and Hungarian-born global icon Vera Molnar, alongside major works by Imre Bak, János Fajó, Ferenc Lantos, István Nádler, and Tamás Hencze. It’s a dense snapshot of Hungarian innovation across generations.

Timed Online Auction – Nov 23, 6 p.m.

After catalog deadlines, fresh Zsolnay ceramics and contemporary paintings poured in—so they’re going to a timed online auction. No printed catalog; everything’s on the gallery’s site. Advance bids accepted until Nov 23; the sale opens at 6 p.m., with lots closing by catalog order, one per minute. Any bid in the last 20 seconds extends that lot by 20 seconds. Each next lot launches after the previous one closes.

2025, adrienne
