Kispest throws its biggest open-air bash on June 6–7 in Budapest, taking over leafy Templom Square (Templom tér) and Ady Endre Avenue (Ady Endre út) for two days of free concerts, family fun, food, and retro thrills. Expect star acts on stage, interactive science parks and robotics workshops, climbing walls and VR, giant games, and chill-out zones with beanbags and parasols. It’s all free, so the whole city can celebrate together.
Where and when
The festival spreads across 1196 Budapest, District 19 – Kispest, centered on Templom Square (Templom tér) and along Ady Endre Avenue (Ady Endre út). Saturday runs 14:00–19:00 for family activities, with concerts into the night; Sunday family zones open 11:00–19:00 and music goes late. Organizers reserve the right to change times and programs.
Saturday’s lineup – June 6
Host Áron Kovács sets the tone for a stacked day: Street Sixteen from 14:00–15:00, Still Crazy (Áron Kovács feat. Kyra) 15:50–17:00, indie favorites Platon Karataev 18:00–19:15, and a big-night closer from Magna Cum Laude at 20:30.
Sunday’s lineup – June 7
Host DJ Dominique leads a family-to-headliner arc: Veronaki Band (Veronaki zenekar) 11:00–12:00, Kispest Veterans’ Brass Band (Kispest Obsitos Fúvószenekar) 12:15–13:00, Hollywood Rose (Guns N’ Roses Tribute Band – Hungary) 13:45–14:45, Galaxisok 15:30–16:45, Godfather (godfater. – Tátrai Tibor Supergroup) 17:50–19:10, and the mighty Quimby at 20:30.
Hands-on zones and thrills
Across both days, free play zones pop up around Templom Square (Templom tér). On Ady Endre Avenue (Ady Endre út) by the CBA, find an interactive science park and playful robotics workshops with LEGO robots. Next to the Catholic church, tackle a six-station mobile obstacle course and a towering climbing wall. The church corner brings back the HappyCopter helicopter simulator. In front of the exhibition hall on Ady Endre Avenue (Ady Endre út), look for the giant coloring wall, KMO Info cabin, the district municipality tent, TKE board games, ReGamEX VR with a retro pavilion, and the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library’s Üllői Road (Üllői út) branch tent.
Meet, learn, and play
Sunday on the road between the CBA and the Catholic church, drop by Magyar Posta’s fairy-tale post, the Friends of the Honvéd Association (Honvéd Baráti Kör) tent, the district police, KÖKI shopping center’s pop-up, and the fR(i)ENDELŐ. Along the catering strip by the tracks, test XXL foosball, seated football, bowling football, a mega basketball court, and a giant Guess Who?-style game. A retro Ikarus 260.45 bus, retired from BKV after three decades of service, will roll in—and may even shuttle festivalgoers.
Jumps, trains, and green tech
By the transformer, kids can bounce on the Eurobungee, a three-station trampoline. In the statue park, conquer a 52.5-foot-long, train-themed obstacle course while KÖZPARK shows off its park-beautifying machines.
Space play and quiet corners
On the grassy area next to the exhibition hall, Wekerle Cultural House (Wekerlei Kultúrház) sets up Kispest Galaxy – Little Travelers, a themed kids’ park with Ökocsiga games: an interactive space racetrack and a star-cone stitching craft corner. The Wekerle Library (Wekerlei Könyvtár) pops in with quizzes for children and adults. Need a breather? Hit the soft seating and shade in the lawn chill-out zone. Street food and drinks keep the energy high—no one goes hungry.
Warm-up night and organizers
Before the main weekend, a Day 0 warm-up party lights up Károly Kós Square (Kós Károly tér). The festival is jointly organized by the Municipality of Kispest and KMO Cultural Center (KMO Művelődési Központ). Admission is free for everyone.
