For a few magical weeks between October 24 and November 9, 2025, the walls of Budavár will echo with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Budavár Bach Festival returns with its eighteenth edition, putting the spotlight on dazzling Baroque beauty and authentic historical instruments—and yes, admission is completely free, while generous donations to support the festival are warmly welcomed onsite.
International Organ Stars and Inspired Pairings
This year’s theme is “BACH + 1,” a celebration pairing Bach’s genius with masterworks and musicians from across Europe. The festival’s heart beats once again in the stunning church, where the renowned Bach organ takes center stage. The program includes festive worship services rich in Reformation-era music, orchestral works where the mighty pedal organ performs as continuo, and a lush vocal dimension from the velvet-voiced Bach Academy Budapest Choir and top soloists.
Unmissable Concert Highlights
Music lovers can catch top-tier concerts like BACH + SOUTH GERMANY with Sebastian Küchler-Blessing (October 24), BACH + SPAIN with Jesús Sampedro (October 26), BACH + SCHUMANN with Adriaan Hoek (October 28), and BACH + GERMAN BAROQUE—Reformation with soprano Mária Lőkősházi (October 31). Look out for pairings with Mendelssohn, Vivaldi, improvisations by Thierry Escaich, romantic evenings, and a grand BACH + SCHUBERT finale featuring orchestras and full choirs.
Donations are gratefully received to support the artists and organizers—so enjoy the concerts, soak up the history, and help keep this Budapest tradition alive!
