The Community House of Pécsbánya (Pécsbánya) hosts the Chestnut Grove Festival (Gesztenye Liget Fesztivál) on October 10-11, 2025, promising a packed schedule of family events, art, and local flavors.

Artistic Kickoff

The festivities begin Friday at 4 p.m. with a special “Time Travelers’ Club” session at the Chestnut Gallery. Gergő Csikós of Webstar Group Ltd. (Webstar Group Kft.) shares his globe-trotting, art-loving insights, highlighted with photos and themed tastings.

Later, enjoy the festive inauguration of a new inner garden, a special KAMALÉ project, together with staff and partners from the Pécsbánya Cultural Association (Pécsbányai Kulturális Egyesület)—guests are more than welcome.

Saturday: Family Day Extravaganza

On Saturday morning, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., take a wild edible plant walk with Bia Németh (Németh Bia)—bring your children and grandchildren along! At noon, awards are presented for the Mini-Garden and Insect Hotel Contest, followed by blood donations from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

On stage, enjoy a dance performance by students from Meszes Elementary School of Pécs (Pécsi Meszesi Általános Iskola), a welcoming ceremony, Eurodance Theater, and Zumba led by enthusiastic local women. Horse lovers can watch the Czerékvölgy Equestrians (Czerékvölgyi Patások) display, and plenty of laughs are promised by the Clown Brigade (Bohóc Brigád). Students from the Tímea Tillai Singing Studio (Tillai Tímea Énekstúdió) will perform before the festival raffle at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m., Tandem Theatre presents “Chanson Night from 1956 – Grandpa at the Olympics,” a touching memoir by Tünde Bacskó (Bacskó Tünde), with Boris Jaksov on piano. The night wraps up with a “Classic Autumn” chamber concert at St. Florian Church (Szent Flórián templom), featuring pieces by Mozart, Haydn, Fauré, Liszt, and Piazzolla performed by renowned musicians.

Something for Everyone

Ongoing activities include information booths, a Reading Grove, a hay bale labyrinth, badge making, a chestnut quiz, club stands, crafting workshops, civil groups, artisan stalls, festive foods, and a “Come, We’ll Photograph You!” stand.
