The 27th Csongrád Wine Festival (Csongrádi Borfesztivál) returns from August 14 to 17, 2025, lighting up the main street from Holy Trinity Square (Szentháromság tér) to Kossuth Square (Kossuth tér). This free event promises the best Hungarian performers, with main stage shows by PUNNANY MASSIF, 4S STREET, and MARGARET ISLAND. Enjoy unforgettable nights under the summer sky with plenty of fine wine.

Sleep in Style: Accommodations in the Heart of Csongrád

Restoring the character of downtown guesthouses was a priority, and it shows. Each house has its own bathroom and kitchen. The spacious courtyard offers guests a place to grill over an open fire or simply relax and savor local Csongrád (Csongrádi) wines on warm evenings.

Elizabeth Hotel (Erzsébet Szálló), a stately hotel built at the turn of the last century, stands shaded by plane trees in the city center. Recently renovated, its classic grandeur is combined with a fresh interior. This three-star gem features updated rooms, all with private baths, shower cabins, LED TVs, and individual climate control. Its cozy café features a new terrace, perfect for watching the festival excitement.

Nature Retreats and River Getaways

For families or friends seeking a break surrounded by nature, a guesthouse in Old Vineyards of Csongrád (Csongrádi Öregszőlők) welcomes visitors year-round by the banks of the living Tisza River. Enjoy fishing, watersports, or cycling before relaxing in the fully equipped vacation home, which sleeps up to 10 in three bedrooms and a mini-apartment. There is also a covered terrace for lazy afternoons.

The Gingerbread Guesthouse (Mézeskalács Vendégház) is nestled between Csongrád and Szentes, perched along a quiet oxbow lake. Guests can fish or row from private piers just 492 feet from the houses, or observe the untouched water and local birdlife.

Group Stays, Family Farms, and Wine Tasting

Local schools offer renovated dormitories with 120 beds, available for groups or solo travelers. Rooms can be booked with twin beds, private baths, refrigerators, and TVs.

Discover a true working family farm at the confluence of the Tisza and Körös (Körös) rivers. Spread over 17 acres, they cultivate organic grapes to produce classic local reds. Their expanding selection is showcased at a welcoming tasting room, open year-round with prior booking.

Another family winery offers quality white, rosé, and red wines made from their own grapes, all at producer prices.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

For a truly unique spot, Bohemian Café (Bohém Kávéház) invites the adventurous. Set in the city center among the trees, this café and restaurant features stylish spaces, moody lighting, attentive service, and a diverse menu of meals and drinks year-round. They are also available for private and corporate events.

Several local wineries turn neighboring grapes into their own labels. In Csongrád-Bokros, a family-run winery welcomes guests for tastings by appointment. In addition to blue Frankish (Kékfrankos) vines, their experimental plantings include Kékoportó (Portugieser), Golden Sárfehér (Arany Sárfehér), and promising Kadarka clones.

The Garden Restaurant (Kertvendéglő) offers a 120-seat thatched terrace, a 60-seat air-conditioned restaurant, and a conference room for 110, plus a playground for children. At Stone Inn (Kőcsárda), enjoy the lively terrace for 80–100 people and a cozy bar at the Körös Bend resort (Körös-torok).

A local vineyard cultivates 37 acres with 15 grape varieties: sample wines, taste homemade dishes, let kids enjoy activities, or take a horse-drawn ride. There is accommodation, camping, and even a vine school offering 50 varieties to choose from.

Taste Tradition at Every Table

Just outside town, Wanderer Farm Restaurant (Vándor Tanya Étterem) specializes in classic Hungarian dishes made from fresh ingredients and time-honored recipes, serving up to 120 inside and another 100 on the terrace. The atmosphere is pure Hungarian countryside, with homemade jams, cheeses, artisan products, and lavender treats to sample. Rooms include private bathrooms and TVs.
