From November 28 to December 23, Debrecen Advent (Debreceni Advent) takes over the downtown promenade with 75 festive stalls, a sprawling Christmas market, children’s workshops, a storybook village, a cozy hütte, a skating rink, and a rich culinary lineup. November 29 pours into the 14th Debrecen Wine Showcase (XIV. Debreceni Bormustra). On November 30, Sunday’s candle-lighting tradition starts with a procession from City Hall to the Great Reformed Church 16:30–17:00. The “Light of the World” communal ceremony runs 17:00–18:00 with church leaders, the mayor, opera singers Klaudia Kuczmog and Norbert Antóni, students from Ady Endre High School (Ady Endre Gimnázium), the Lautitia Choir Family, the Svetits Catholic School children’s choir, and Lituus Brass. December 8: We Love in Hungarian Band’s Advent Concert (Magyarul Szeretjük Zenekar Adventi Koncertje) fills the Great Reformed Church (8,990–14,990 HUF; 24–40 USD).
