“Te rongyos élet…” — New Operetta Premiere
Imre Kálmán – Zsolt Meskó: Te rongyos élet… is a two-act operetta that lifts the curtain on a world that’s tangled, passionate, bittersweet, goofy, and thrilling. The story weaves together an unselfish superfan, a shy genius, and a young actress willing to do anything for a great role, revealing both the composer’s life and the backstage secrets of the theater. Imre Kálmán lived a peculiar life and met a fate to match; his wildly popular music has charmed the world for a century. Expect his greatest hits: Te rongyos élet/Mondd meg, hogy imádom, A pesti nőket/Álom, álom, édes álom, Túl az Óperencián, Az asszony összetör, Szép város Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca), Hajmási Péter, and more. Writer Zsolt Meskó, a boundlessly imaginative polymath, currently has a musical running to great success at the Madách Theatre (Madách Színház). Cast: Ibolya Nagy, Attila Csengeri, Elvira Haraszti/Dorka Pacskó.
