A packed cultural year is coming to the Déri Museum in Debrecen. In 2026, beyond the permanent exhibitions and museum education workshops, the museum rolls out a series of rotating exhibitions, talks, and community programs. Doors are open every day except Monday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Expect color, discovery, and plenty of family-friendly fun across generations—right in the heart of Debrecen.
January Highlights
On January 27, dive into Boldog boltozatok (Happy Vaults), a deep look at the value and protection of the brick-vaulted rooms of Debrecen’s iconic cívisház homes. Local historian and researcher Attila Harangi presents a photo-rich talk grounded in three emblematic houses: the Várady Szabó House, the Boross Tóby House, and the Nánássy House. The evening also features a remembrance by Lajos Lakner, Deputy Scientific Director of the Déri Museum, titled When Imre Bán Wept, followed by actor Zsolt Csata performing poems by János Térey and Tamás Kiss. Co-hosted by the Déri Museum, the Friends of the Déri Museum, and the Debrecen City Protection and Beautification Association, this special program marks the Day of Hungarian Culture. On January 29, chief museologist Szilveszter Mező takes the audience to Southeast Asia with Here Comes Indochina! “Never Fall into Klong!”—a visual travel talk drawn from his journeys through Laos and the Kingdom of Thailand. Debrecen.
