April 24 – Eco Family Day

Hands-on nature time kicks off the week at the Lower Quarry. The Kék Géza Cultural House team leads bat-box building and bird painting, while students from the Gyula Magyar Horticultural Technical School run flower-arranging demos and plant décor workshops. At the Radio and Television Museum stand, families dive into playful activities tied to broadcast history. It’s all about crafting, curiosity, and kids getting their hands dirty—in the best way.

April 25 – Heritage Day and Diósd Music Day

Tradition takes center stage at the Upper Quarry. After a communal run organized by the Diósd Ground Runners (Diósdi Földön Futók) club, the day rolls into a pageant, a sword-fighting tourney, early music concerts, a samurai showcase, and a whirl of children’s programs. Expect doughnut tasting, folk games, and a full-on marketplace, inviting both kids and grown-ups to wander, watch, and play.
From 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Lower Quarry turns into Diósd Music Day. Local bands get the spotlight as visitors unwind with a good beer or a glass of wine. The lineup: Factory Street, Chili Con Carne, Metal-Funky, Fisherman Winters, with DJ Okina closing out the night.

April 26 – Family Day at the Upper Quarry

Sunday keeps the family focus from 10 a.m. The mood is pure joy, with ZIZI the Clown bringing the chaos, and kid-favorite shows by Brumi Bandi Band and the Sunflower Band (Napvirág). At 2:30 p.m., the crowd gets the Alma Ensemble live, followed by the towering stilt performers Langaléta Garabonciások. At 5 p.m., the Déryné Program brings Fox Dance – a Fabled Comedy (Rókatánc – mesés komédiája) to wrap the main festival weekend on a theatrical high.
Around the stages, kids can bounce between the Fatekergő playhouse, medieval games, face painting, and the SKID Ski School’s snow-tube setup. The bouncy castle is, of course, back.

April 27 – Nature Conservation Day

After the big weekend, eco week begins. In the morning, plant doctor and research ecologist Dr. László Mezőfi, a member of the Environmental Committee, leads local kindergarteners through Diósd’s protected areas. Then it’s a mini bug safari: magnifying glasses out—the hunt is on for the buzzers, crawlers, and antennaed tiny things.
Later, environmental educator Kata Berecz (Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society) guides a bird-spotting walk for the older kindergarten group from Kocsis Street.
From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a guided adventure tour unfolds on the Wildflower Study Trail with biologist and author Dr. Gábor Szerényi (Vörösmarty Mihály High School, Érd), Environmental Committee chair Szilvia Péter, plus Nóra Szendéné Kiss and the MiDió team. Families tackle shared challenges at stations—decode clues, test skills, make discoveries—because the best prize is time together. Wind down from 6 to 7 p.m. with a free yoga class led by Manipura MediStation’s instructor Krisztina Honti‑Vladár; meet the teachers from 4 p.m.

April 28 – Nature and Movement

In the morning at the primary school, Dr. Gábor Szerényi delivers a lively talk on the traces and signals animals leave behind—footprints, gnaw marks, even droppings—and how to read the forest’s messages. From 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m., Budakeszi Wildlife Park stages Little Heroes at Home – Animal Responsibility (Otthonunk kicsiny hősei – Állati felelősség) for families at the Lower Quarry. Kids learn how a Dubia roach startles, whether loud music bugs snakes, how a bearded dragon drinks, who’s steadier on a line—tightrope walker or rat—if a skunk really stinks, and what real responsibility looks like when caring for animals. Recommended for ages 6–10. Cap the evening with a free Pilates class, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., courtesy of Diósd’s Liána Pilates Studio at the Lower Quarry.

April 29 – Environmental Protection Day

Noise expert Mihály Berndt shakes up the school day with How Loud Is the World Around Us? Playing with Sounds. Upper-grade students dive into interactive experiments exploring what noise is, how we measure volume, what frequency means, and how sound waves travel—plus real-life examples that make everyday noise click.
From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Radio and Television Museum presents The Past of Technology and the Responsibility of the Future, tracing radio and TV history while unpacking today’s device culture: replacement cycles, e-waste problems, and how to consume responsibly. Guided tour by Tamás Sávoly. At the same time and place, environmental officer Mónika Kondola runs Waste Is Not Trash – From Waste to Product, a talk on waste management, recycling, and mindful shopping.

April 30 – Community Tree Planting

As the Around Us the World nature and environmental week wraps, the Diósd City Council plants trees and flowers together at St. Stephen Square (Szent István tér), expected between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. after the April council meeting. Open to the public—bring friends and dig in.

May 1 – May Day Cook-Off

The series ends with the classic May Day cooking contest on Friday, May 1, at St. Stephen Square (Szent István tér). Civil groups and institutions can enter their teams, while the Weigl Band keeps the mood upbeat. It’s neighborly, noisy, and delicious—the perfect final course for a spring well spent in Diósd.
