The Gödöllő Royal Palace (Gödöllői Királyi Kastély) is going all out this autumn as part of the national Autumn Festival of Museums, running from October 1 to November 9, 2025. For over a month, the palace transforms into a lively hub for families, students, and culture lovers, offering everything from museum workshops and yoga sessions to fashion throwbacks and special events for teachers—all designed to inspire and entertain.
Kick-Off for Students and Career Seekers
“Vágod?” (“You Get It?”) is the career guidance day jumpstarting the festival on October 1–2, between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Registration is required! Students from Váci Technical and Vocational School (Váci SzC Madách Imre Technikum és Szakképző Iskola) will showcase the highlights of their professions—hairdressing, tailoring, and cosmetics. Expect hands-on demonstrations and honest conversations about what inspired them to choose their crafts, all with support from their instructors.
Yoga—Because Museums Aren’t Just for Looking
As autumn settles in, slow down with yoga in the grand setting of the palace. Classes take place on October 1, 8, 15, and November 5, from 6:15 PM to 7:30 PM. De-stress, rejuvenate your body, and embrace mindfulness right where royalty once walked.
Animal World Day for Future Scientists and Families
On October 3, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, elementary school students can dive into an interactive, educational showcase about local wildlife, hosted by teachers and students from the University of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Department of Wildlife and Conservation (Magyar Agrár- és Élettudományi Egyetem Vadvilág Megőrzési Tanszék). Registration is required. The following day, October 4, the program opens for families (from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM) with playful learning and plenty of kid-friendly activities.
From Fashion to Fairy Tales
Discover the story of the palace through clothing during the “Palace Kids Club – Retro Fashion” (Kastélylurkók Klubja – Újramódi) on October 4 (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM), and again for moms and toddlers on October 6. Step back into 19th-century life with reconstructed costumes or try on hats and outfits yourself. Don’t miss the “Wonderful World of Gobelins” (A gobelinek csodálatos világa) exhibit and demonstration (October 4, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM), where you’ll see how intricate textile techniques turn designs into stunning works of art.
At 1:30 PM on October 4, join “A Visit to the Royal Children” (“Látogatás a királyi gyerekeknél”)—a family tour featuring costumed time travel through the palace’s royal heyday. Meanwhile, students looking to earn community service hours can check out “Are We in tREND?” (“tRENDben vagyunk?”) on select dates in October—just be sure to register!
For Teachers and Special Audiences
October 13 brings the “Museum Fairytale Hero Conference” (“Múzeumi Mesehős Konferencia,” 10:00 AM–4:00 PM), exploring how stories can captivate and educate in a museum setting. Teachers can also participate in the “Pick & Choose Museum Workshop” (“Szemezgető Múzeumpedagógiai Workshop”) on October 21 and November 5 (3:00–4:30 PM), where they’ll discover the best activities for their classes.
The Open Museum Day on October 22 (two sessions: 11:15 AM–12:45 PM and 11:30 AM–1:00 PM) is especially designed for students and adults with intellectual disabilities, offering an interactive journey through the permanent exhibitions.
History Under the Spotlight
November continues with family and children’s tours exploring royal wardrobes, plus a special focus on formal dresses created for the last coronation of aristocratic women (November 8, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM). Discover noblewomen’s “wardrobe secrets” in a lively history presentation at 2:30 PM, or stroll through the palace apartments during “Tapestry Check” (“Kárpitszemle”)—complete with touchable samples and a close look at the luxury textiles that adorned the royal rooms.
Inclusive and Accessible for All
A new easy-read guide for the palace’s permanent exhibition ensures that visitors with comprehension difficulties or intellectual disabilities can fully enjoy their experience. Created in collaboration with experts, it is available throughout the festival.
