BUT DO YOU LIKE ME? is a years-long photography project digging into the in-between states of contemporary teen life. Born from a personal spark, Emma (Emese) Szabó turns toward Gen Z and Gen Alpha as a young mother, working from her own memories—and the gaps where those memories should be. It’s not just about how we see today’s kids; it’s about the patterns, tensions, and unspoken inheritances that echo from one generation to the next.
What It Looks At
Szabó’s images trace the fragile zones where identity gets drafted and redrafted: friendship and friction, bravado and vulnerability, self-invention and the fear of being seen. The work asks what we pass down without noticing—the quiet scripts of belonging, shame, and defiance—and how teens remix them in the glow of phone screens and under the pressure of constant visibility.
Where and When
The exhibition opens March 11 and runs through May 31.
