The Dunaföldvár National Animal and Flea Market is a hallmark event held every third Sunday of the month from March to November at Lower Lake (Alsó tó), Dunaföldvár. Vendors and market enthusiasts flock to the venue for a full day of trading, bargain-hunting, and authentic open-air market atmosphere.
The flea market opens bright and early, running from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while the animal market is active from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Local producers, family farmers, folk artists, artisans, painters, and ceramicists all bring their goods, filling the market stalls with everything from farm-fresh produce to traditional folk art and hand-crafted curiosities.
How to Book a Spot
There are two ways to participate: as a season pass holder (annual vendor) or as a casual vendor. Season pass holders must register through the Dunaföldvár Municipality’s e-Government portal under “Notification of Business Activity – Market – Fair – Public Area.” To qualify, sellers must hold a valid business license—whether as a company, sole trader, registered farmer (with FELIR code and NÉBIH activity ID), family farm member (ÖCSG), or as an individual with invoicing capability, such as artists or craftspeople. Annual rental fees must be paid before participating.
Casual vendors may set up after paying a pitch fee and parking fee. All vendors must comply with strict rules regarding stall usage: a vendor can rent up to 12 designated spots per year and hold up to four contiguous spots at a time, at a maximum of three locations around the market. Subletting or exchanging rented spaces is strictly forbidden—violators will lose their lease immediately without compensation.
Fees, Discounts, and Rules
Permanent residents of Dunaföldvár who are licensed primary producers, family farm members, or have businesses headquartered locally receive a 25% discount on pitch fees. Proof of address and ID are required to claim the discount.
Any changes in vendor details must be reported in writing to the local government within 15 days. Annual pitch and rental fees are set each year by local government regulations.
