Every year, Eger celebrates October 23rd in style, and 2025 is no different. Multiple venues across the city will host ceremonies and special programs on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Festivities Across Town
Kicking off at 10:00 AM, a holy mass will take place in the Basilica. The main city celebration starts at 11:00 AM at the Géza Gárdonyi Theater (Gárdonyi Géza Színház), featuring a festive performance by the theater’s artists.
Speeches, Awards, and Remembrance
Eger’s mayor, Ákos Vágner, will deliver the ceremonial speech. During the event, prestigious awards will be presented, honoring notable citizens. At 12:15 PM, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the ’56 Memorial to pay tribute to Hungary’s historic 1956 revolution.
Event organizers remind everyone that both the schedule and program are subject to change.
