Eger is going all in for Christmas again, dressing the historic downtown and light-soaked Dobó Square with the castle as a glowing backdrop. From November 28 to December 21, the city lines up concerts, theater, candlelit classics, and a Christmas market that makes holiday warm-up season feel bright, musical, and still cozy for families, little ones, and date nights alike.

One of Hungary’s prettiest holiday markets takes over Eger. Expect dazzling lights, special visual installations, and a hut-style warming corner. The fundamentals are there: mulled wine, kürtőskalács (chimney cake), artisanal goods, and stacks of festive bites—all staged around Dobó Square with that blockbuster castle view. Location: Eger.
