Eger rolls out a packed cultural calendar year-round, and the first half of June 2026 is buzzing. From meditative piano to roaring engines, sacred music to street choirs, wine-fueled summer nights to museum marathons, the city’s historic streets turn into a live stage. Here’s what’s on from June 1–21, with free and ticketed programs across multiple venues.

June 7: Music, Motors, Monologues

Recharge at Kapusi Balázs’s free meditative piano concert featuring Sri Chinmoy’s music. If you prefer tire squeal, the 6th HRT Racing Eger Slalom delivers fast-paced asphalt action: drivers take on a cone-studded course to claim the Gulf Cup. Theater lovers get Lányok, fiúk (Girls, Boys), Lovas Rozi’s solo piece, where a lone woman from the anonymous many speaks of life, death, love, the eloquent silence of men, rising and falling careers, children’s vulnerability, and the labyrinth we’ve all built together, boys and girls.

Pipes, Pistons, and Saints

Organ Concerts at the Basilica run Fridays and Saturdays at 12:00, Sundays from 12:45, June 1–September 30. Expect J. S. Bach, Franck, Boëllmann, Dubois, and Vierne in crisp 20–30 minute sets. Tickets 2000 Ft per person (about 5.50 USD), at the Basilica Visitor Center. Gearheads: Auto Show Eger takes over the city sports hall with more than 64,583 square feet of vintage, racing, and showroom machines, where makers and collectors show breakthrough tech, fresh models, and timeless classics. In the Basilica, the traveling exhibit The Sanctity of Life profiles Saint Gianna Beretta Molla (1922–1962), patron of mothers, doctors, and the unborn.

Exhibitions Opening

From June 7–25, Agria Park Gallery hosts SZELF, Válóczi-Major Kata’s exhibition, free to view. June 8–12 brings Individual Identity in the Global World, showcasing works across media—painting to mixed media—probing identity and global self-positioning. Survivors, June 8–13, honors women who overcame cervical cancer. Also June 8–13, Kéri Sándor’s Hármas számaim (My Triple Numbers) shows at Bartakovics Béla Community House. The Basilica’s The Sanctity of Life continues June 8–14 as well.

Films, Talks, and Book Launches

June 9: At EKKE Cinema, Váratlan dallamok (Unexpected Melodies), a 103-minute French comedy, screens with subtitles. Also June 9: Equal Opportunities Day at Uránia IFI Point and Community Space features interactive sensitivity sessions, civil groups, a film, and a roundtable. June 10: A Tittel Pál Library talk chronicles an ultrarunner’s 420-mile journey for the Saint Anna Children’s Home in Gheorgheni (Gyergyószentmiklós). June 11: Historian Ignác Romsics presents The Great Powers and Hungary in the 20th Century, followed by discussion. June 11–12: DIPLOMA ’26 shows EKKE Art Faculty Media and Design Institute’s BA/MA graphic design theses and defenses. Through June 11, Free Exhibition: Szabadon presents student artworks from the university’s art school at Agria Park’s gallery.

Night Moves, Torchlight Runs, and Free Pop

June 12 marks the nationwide Night of Movement, and Eger joins in. The 2nd Eger Torchlit Running Fiesta glows on the Archbishop’s Garden promenade—more about company than pace. The Basilica organ series continues June 12–14. June 13 at István Dobó Square: the free Felnézek Fesztivál starts at 17:00 with concerts; Gáspár Laci at 18:00, Azapeet at 19:00, and Oláh Gergő at 20:30. Same day: a curated wardrobe edit reimagines the clothes swap; weekly Hungarian-language city walking tours depart Saturdays at 10:00 from the Tourinform office through September 12; acoustic night at the 33-marked Ostoros BorZbár; a producers and crafts market at Katona Square market hall; mandala painting with live handpan at the Ottoman Tent; Édenkert Chill & Grill Party celebrates Juhász Testvérek Pincészete’s 30th at the Valide Sultan Bath Ruins with bubbles, grills, cocktails, and sunset; Prosecco & Frittura Night returns with Italian vibes and seafood; a themed walk, Stories Cast in Metal, hunts bells, crowns, swords, and famed metal artifacts at 15:00; and Archaeology Days at the Eger Castle Museum runs June 13–14 with interactive programs and talks.

Choirs, Design, Street Songs

June 14: Made in Hungária choral performance by the Magis Choir fills the Archbishop’s Palace courtyard. June 15–19: DIPLOMA ’26 thesis show continues, as does the Individual Identity exhibit. June 15–20: Hármas számaim and Survivors both extend. June 15–21: The Sanctity of Life exhibit at the Basilica returns. June 16: Actor Pál Mácsai opens the workshop in Műhelylátogatás—poems by Arany, Petőfi, Ady, Babits, Kosztolányi, Karinthy, Dsida, Attila József, Radnóti, Villon–Faludy, Nemes Nagy, Pilinszky, Ottó Orbán, Petri, Parti Nagy, and István Kemény—at Bartakovics Béla Community House, tickets 5000–6000 Ft (about 13.70–16.40 USD). Also June 16: EKKE Cinema screens Reggeli a hegyen (Breakfast on the Mountain), French comedy, 95 minutes, subtitled. Brass, Beats, Baroque

June 19: Open-air brass at Dobó Square with the Liszt Academy Trombone Quartet from the City Hall balcony, led by Buda Gulyás—free. Broadway Monkey launches vacation season with a MISSH concert blowout. Kárpátia plays the outdoor stage. A white-wine tasting spotlights five Eger-region bottles with a sommelier, plus savory pastries and cheeses, ideally on beanbags under the sun. Börleszk, the Cabaret Band’s acoustic offshoot, reshapes familiar hits with keys. A moon-phase-themed night walk explores Eger’s buildings. The Egri Majorette Association parades downtown, then stages a show on Dobó Square with performers from age three to adult. Tercina Ensemble’s Song of Songs concert at the Farkas Ferenc Music School is free. The Bükk Art Days Baroque Festival unfolds June 19–21 at prime sites around Eger, while the Basilica organ series also continues.

Solstice Fire, Trails, Museums, and Music

June 20 is stacked. HOBO – Úton lenni boldogság (To Be on the Road Is Happiness), a 93-minute Hungarian road movie, premieres at Agria Cinema with a meet-and-greet. On Síkhegy, a St. John’s Night bonfire picnic returns, crowned by the Lobbanáspont Fire-Jugglers. Hike the Beehive Rocks Performance Trek across the Bükkalja’s wild landscapes with 9-, 19-, and 31-mile routes—basalt beehive rocks, ridge views, and volcanic-terroir wines en route. Eger marks International Day of Yoga with balance and mind–body harmony events. Budapest Chamber Opera stages J. Haydn’s The Diva (Az énekesnő) at Bartakovics House. Civil Museums Night folds into the national Museums Night program, now in its 25th year, with Eger Castle Museums offering family-friendly activities, openings, and multi-site experiences. A St. John’s Night Witches’ Walk crowns the city’s most mystical evening. The Castle Museum also honors painter Ernő Nagy, born in Felnémet 100 years ago, with a sweeping retrospective; Glimmering Reality (Derengő valóság) runs June 20–21. The Savaria Baroque Orchestra performs In the Footsteps of King Solomon in the English Ladies’ Chapel. On Síkhegy, a six-wine tasting led by Katalin Tóth pours: Egri Csillag 2025 PREMIERE; Egri Csillag Superior 2024 PREMIERE; Rhine Riesling Superior 2024 PREMIERE; Kadarka Siller 2025 PREMIERE; Kadarka 2024 PREMIERE; Várvédő Egri Bikavér Grand Superior 2022, paired with bites by Fázis Koszt & Kávé. The Tóth Ferenc Winery hosts another magical St. John’s Night Under the Poplar with the fire troupe’s show. Trashmadonna trio time-travels through ’80s–’90s New Wave. And the stage musical Made in Hungária roars back, charting a young band’s rush for the American dream amid socialist reality—humor, romance, heat, and Hungária anthems like Viva Rock and Roll, Csókkirály, and Made in Hungária.
