June 12: Run, Ride, Sing

Runners get their own spark at the 2nd Egri Torchlight Running Fiesta, synced to the nationwide Night of Movement concept that prizes company over pace: jog, chat, and take in the Archbishop’s Garden paths awash in flame. Night of Movement pops up again across nearly 100 Hungarian sites—with Eger firmly in the mix.

Books, Grads, and the Organ’s Roar

The Basilica hosts organ concerts every Friday to Sunday, with 20–30 minute sets from Bach, Franck, Boëllmann, Dubois, and Vierne. Tickets are 2000 HUF (about 5.50 USD) per person at the Basilica Visitor Center.

Foodies can hit Prosecco & Frittura Night—Italian vibes, bubbles, seafood bites, and sun-faded chill, back by demand. The BorZbár goes acoustic on the Soltész terrace (No. 33 in Ostoros), while a producers’ and craft market in the Market Hall (Piaccsarnok) at Katona Square promises fresh veg, fruit, homemade treats, and handmade goods with smiles to match.

Walks, Wardrobes, and Mandalas

Every Saturday at 10 a.m. through September 12, Tourinform leads a 90-minute downtown tour packed with Eger’s stories and landmarks. The Curated Wardrobe Edit rethinks the clothing market as a slow, styled social moment. The themed walk “Stories Sealed in Metal” starts at 3 p.m., chasing bells, crowns, swords, and famed ironwork around town. Or slip into the Ottoman tent for mandala painting with live handpan, where Eastern ambiance and creative flow meet.

June 17 fills the historic center with Sétáló Énekszó—street concerts by the Agria Mixed Choir. On June 18, learn how woodpeckers shape forests and our lives in a family-friendly talk with quiet activities for kids, then taste 16th-century legends alongside Egri wines during a castle wine walk with Szuromi Family Estate.

A white-wine tasting from the Eger region pairs five pours with salty bites and cheeses, ideally outdoors on beanbags. The Eger Majorette Association parades into a Dobó Square showcase featuring all age groups, followed by balcony brass térzene with the Liszt Academy trombone quartet. Broadway Monkey throws a school’s-out MISSŘ show to script the summer’s first big story. The Basilica’s organ series rolls on June 19–21, while Bükk Arts Days – Baroque Festival (Bükki Művészeti Napok – Barokk Fesztivál) spreads Baroque beauty across Eger and its neighbors.
